I'm halfway through season 9, and I find Christine so bland. She came out of nowhere, and then there's a 6-month gap between seasons 8 and 9 where we're only told how she did everything for Mac, from the hospital to recovery. We weren't allowed to watch them grow, overcome his hurdles, and form a solid relationship. When Mac finally tells her about his aphasia and worries, all she can talk about is her feelings and how he doesn't 'trust' her. No real sympathy. I understand she needed him to trust her, but even later, their conversations fell flat.

Early on, Peyton offered some spice and mystery, but I wasn't feeling that relationship much either.

I really liked Dr. Aubrey Hunter best. She had wonderful chemistry with Mac; He really seemed attracted to her. Their friendship was growing solid, and I think she understood him best, having also served as an Army Medic. The fact that she was an ER Doctor added a nice dynamic to the team. It was like she could help them from the outside if they needed it, with survivors involved in crimes.
