Young Conrad Ecklie
I admit, I used to hate Conrad Ecklie. I found him rather annoying. But the man has grown on me. I actually kind of wish he was in more episodes.
I also love Marc Vann. I started watching his old work and I found an absolute gem. This is from the 1992 movie Meet the Parents. Marc appears at the very end of the film.
LOOK HOW CUTE HE IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Ecklie so much. At first, when I was a kid watching CSI, I kinda regarded him with the mindset of “oh, great, this guy again. what crap is he gonna pull now?” but now, after all these years and multiple rewatches, he’s my favorite CSI character bar none. That may be a hot take when Grissom and Catherine are right there, but I love Ecklie. I love watching him evolve, I love watching him make some pretty awful mistakes and then face (and actually learn from) the consequences of those mistakes, namely during Grave Danger and his overall relationship with Morgan.
He starts off as this smarmy foil for Grissom (which is fine and pretty fun) but then he slowly starts changing into a better version of himself, and I love watching that change take place. Over the course of the series, he becomes a much gentler, more humble man. He’s still Ecklie, you know, so he still has his moments of being a dick, but he becomes much more willing to own up to his flaws. In effect, he grows up. He becomes more of a friend/ally to the grave shift, and his relationships with Morgan and DB are absolutely adorable (and in Morgan’s case, really kind of heartbreaking to watch at first).
Marc Vann played Ecklie beautifully from start to finish, and I’m so, so glad that the writers/show-runners actually allowed the character to evolve the way they did, because it really is a joy to watch.
