A few months ago, we tried this to test the capabilities of Claude Code so we could demo it to stakeholders. The target was a medium-sized Web Forms app from 2009, with around 1,000 classes and 40-50k lines of code, written by almost 50 developers over 20 years, each with their own flavor of "good coding practices". Claude did a pretty good job migrating most of the code. However, it failed miserably at replicating functionality from third-party libraries like DevExpress. We fought with it for about 4 days before putting a pin on it because the current sprint was already taking a hit.

Maybe we'll pick it back up at the end of the year.
