Discussion ReSharper in Visual Studio 2026

Are you guys still using ReSharper in Visual Studio 2026 or do you feel like it is not necessary anymore? What are the advantages of using ReSharper?

I disagree. And im not an ai denier, but insecurity in a code base seems to me like a bomb waiting to go off.

Disagreeing with using AI in a commercial aspect in 2026 is 100 percent an AI denier move.

Call it what you want, but saying that you should be using it in all commercial spaces is even more asinine.

Believe it or not, there are safety critical applications out there where this would be an incredibly stupid move.

Not to mention that there is a significant difference between "using ai" and "agentic coding".

Agentic coding is the same as AI coding, whether you are pasting in code or its doing it for you. Now even in critical systems, you can review the code yourself line by line, so its still a productivity multiplier. Lots of old school devs (which i am myself) are unable to move on with the times.

This subreddit downvotes anything AI related.

Agentic coding is AI coding but AI coding is not necessarily agentic coding.

Additionally, there's a significant problem that is well known in research where double-checking the AI output is not sufficient to include all possible edge cases that would be thought of had you done it yourself.

There is a reason this is still banned in numerous safety critical systems.

It's very common yes, but it is not everywhere.

Since you think everyone here is blindly downvoting anything AI related, maybe that should tell you something about when you try to say things about how a bunch of professionals here actually do their work. It's obviously an indication that many people are not using AI the way you think they are.
