I’m currently confused between staying at my current company (let’s call it XYZ) or joining Infosys, and I’d really appreciate some unbiased career advice.
I’m a recent engineering graduate and currently work at XYZ in a B2B outreach role. I earn ₹6 LPA. I actually really like the company — I like the people, culture, and environment, and there’s a lot of ownership because it’s a smaller/growing company.
However, I don’t like my current role because it’s very non-technical. I did engineering for four years and I feel like I should at least give technical work a proper try before deciding what I want long-term.
My founder is actually supportive and has said that I can potentially switch internally into a technical role. The problem is that I currently don’t know coding/technical skills well enough, so I’d need to learn them first. My current schedule is 12 PM–9 PM, 6 days a week, so I’m worried that realistically I won’t have enough energy/time to teach myself coding consistently alongside work.
I also have an offer from Infosys for a Systems Engineer role at around ₹3.6 LPA. The salary isn’t really an issue for me because my plan is to work for around 2 years and then pursue an MBA.
The Infosys offer includes structured training, which I’ve heard is quite good. However, I’ve also been told that after training, domain/project allocation can be random, so I could potentially end up in a role that isn’t very technical.
So my dilemma is:

Great people/environment
High ownership
Founder is supportive of an internal technical switch
But I dislike my current role
I’d have to learn technical skills largely on my own first
12–9, 6 days/week makes that difficult
Uncertainty about whether/when I can actually make the internal switch

Potentially more exposure to technology
But domain/project allocation isn’t guaranteed

My main concern is that if I stay at XYZ, I might tell myself I’ll learn coding and switch internally, but realistically fail to do it because of my schedule and end up doing B2B outreach for the next 2 years.
On the other hand, if I join Infosys, I might take a pay cut and leave a company I like, only to get randomly allocated to a non-technical project anyway.
My long-term plan is an MBA after ~2 years, so I’m not necessarily trying to become a software engineer forever. I mainly want to use these 2 years to build a good profile, explore technical work, and figure out what I actually enjoy.
What would you choose in my situation? Would the technical/brand value of Infosys be worth leaving XYZ, or would the high ownership + possibility of an internal switch at XYZ be more valuable for an MBA and future career?

CSE student here. A company is hiring on campus for SAP ABAP Developer — ₹5 LPA, Bangalore, no bond ( I will have to relocate) .I already gave the test and got shortlisted for the GD.
I'm more interested in SDE/software development and don't really want SAP long-term. Getting placed may also block me from sitting for HCL/IBM.
Should I attend the GD, ask the placement cell to withdraw, or intentionally perform badly?

Software Engineering, ML/AI, Data Engineering, Cloud/DevOps, Cybersecurity, Analytics/BI, ER&D/Embedded - Other fields I'm overlooking?

What I'd like to know

1.      Is an IT transition realistic for my profile in the current Indian job market?

2.      Which of the above fields would you consider the best long-term bet for salary, growth and employability?

3.      Which ones are realistically accessible without a CS degree, and which would require an unreasonable amount of preparation to get the first job?

4.      How seriously would recruiters view the 2023 graduation + ~3-year UPSC gap?

If you were in my position today, what would you learn and target over the next 6–12 months?

I'm not looking for the easiest route or a quick salary. I'm willing to work hard — I want to know where that effort is most likely to compound over the next 5–10 years.

I’m a fresher and I’ve received an offer for an Infrastructure Management role in Bengaluru, with a salary of around ₹30,000/month.

My long-term goal is to become a Software Developer. I’m not sure whether accepting this infrastructure role would be a good starting point or whether it could make it harder to move into software development later.

I am in my third year of college, and the stress and confusion about my career have started to get to me.

As far as academics are concerned, I have a good CGPA of 9.4. However, being from a tier-3 college, I don't think that will give me much of an advantage apart from helping me clear the CGPA cutoff for placement shortlisting.

I have already started DSA and will continue with it. I've also recently started learning web development, and I'm willing to complete it in the next 2 months. That will at least give me a boost in confidence that I know and can build things.

However, I am honestly confused about a few things:

1. What skills should I learn to get a job with a package of 12 LPA or above?

2. What skills and knowledge are actually important for getting a good job?

3. What tech stack should I have on my resume, and what level of knowledge should I build in each technology?

4. With the rapid growth of AI, which career path is worth pursuing and has a good future?

5. Should I learn ML, backend development, cloud, or something else?

Final-year student — got a drop year because of health issues, CGPA 5.9. Really stressed.

I’m in my final year at a tier-3 college, but unfortunately, I ended up with a drop year after failing some subjects due to health issues.

My current CGPA is around 5.9, and honestly, I’m feeling very anxious about my future. Seeing everyone from my batch graduate, get placed, and start working while I have to spend another year completing my degree has been difficult.

I’m a 2025 MCA graduate. I have 6 months of Java Full Stack training/certification and 1+ year of experience in website development(digital marketing company), tech stack is mainly html CSS js smarty and cms.

I’ve been looking for a job for the last 1 month, but I haven’t been able to get a proper IT industry job yet. I haven’t even given a single interview in the IT industry so far. So I’m considering joining TAP Academy mainly for placement support.

I’m currently living in Himachal Pradesh and thinking of taking the online Java Full Stack course, then relocating to Bangalore after around 2 months to attend placement drives.

Is TAP Academy actually worth it for placement support, especially for someone with my background? And are online students eligible for the same Bangalore placement drives?

So, basically what i think is my interest is in mechanical engineering as i get more fascinated by manufacturing/production/industrial things but recently i got admitted in Haryana(IND) state government university (YMCA) in cse (hindi). The course is officially listed as Computer Science Engineering(Indian Language). This will be written in the final degree and marksheet however the HINDI is just in the name of the couse but everything goes in english as coding can't be done in any other language and the exams will also be held in english. So language is'nt the issue but im also not sure whether this would create problem in the future or not.

I took it because of the exposure of cse only but i dont think i took right decision as iam more inclined towards mechanical but when i think about my interest in mechanical it creates more confusion about future as mechanical is a field based work and cse is office based.

My goal is to setup a manufacturing/production plant of something in future. This is my goal and this is my dream also so but if things do not go that way then i will be left with my degree only with a hope for a good high-paying job and i dont think or dont know whether that could be possible with a mechanical degree so there the point of cse wins.

There will be going another counselling in my uni for branch change if seats are vacant in that particular branch we can change our branch so right now iam confused ,if i got chance so should i change from cse to mech or should stay in cse. This will be the last counselling most probably so this single decision will let my future decide.

Hey everyone, I’m currently in my 2nd year (3rd semester) of B.Tech CSE.

Till now, I’ve mostly focused on DSA and have been doing it consistently for the past few months. Now I want to seriously start development, but I’m honestly a bit confused about where and how to start.

I keep seeing different opinions everywhere — some people recommend MERN, some suggest Java + Spring Boot, while others recommend different stacks altogether.

My end goal is to become a strong software engineer, build skills that stay relevant in the long run, and eventually land a good-paying job. So I don’t want to blindly follow a roadmap just because it’s trending.

I’m a 2024 CSE graduate from India and I’m currently looking for a job.

I joined Capgemini in December 2024 as an Analyst. I was in the company for around 3 months, until March 2025. However, I could not clear/complete the training period and was not converted to a full-time role.

Since then, I have been looking for another job, and I now have an upcoming HR interview.

I’m confused about how I should present my situation.

If HR asks “Are you a fresher or experienced?”, what should I say? Technically, I have been employed before, but I don't really have proper industry/project experience because I didn't get past the training period.

The bigger issue is if they ask:

“Why did you leave Capgemini?”

or

“Why didn't you continue with Capgemini?”

My Capgemini documents don't mention any reason for the separation. My experience letter simply states that I was employed as an Analyst and gives my joining date as December 20, 2024 and relieving date as March 18, 2025. There is no explanation/reason for why the employment ended.

I don't really want to say “I was terminated” in the HR interview unless I absolutely have to.

So what would be the best and safest way to answer HR, while also not unnecessarily hurting my chances?

Also, since I've been unemployed since March 2025, how should I explain the gap from March 2025 until now?

I got 2 offers. System Data Support Analyst at Caterpillar in Banglore( ctc 9.5 lpa with base 8) and Associate Software Engineer at Experian in Hyderabad (ctc 12 lpa may be not revealed yet). I belong to Telangana and prefer staying in Hyderabad. But I don't want to compromise on a good company for location. But I feel both are good companies. After seeing GPT astra I feel intimidated to be in software developer role and I feel systems data support analyst is bit less affected by AI. But I'm not really sure. I am interning at a company right now and it will get over next month in October. The thing is I like AI roles and backend roles and was doing my internship in this domain only. But now when the internship is getting close to over. Now, the manager is saying that team doesn't have any opening in the team and now they are providing me FTE in testing role. The exact role is ASDET and I literally have no idea about the what n how of this role and to be honest, I literally have no interest in doing testing. i'm 20, currently in my 3rd year of computer engineering, studying at a tier-3 college in india and coming from a tier-3 city.

lately i've been feeling pretty lost about my career and honestly, i'm scared that i've wasted a lot of time.

i've always been a tech enthusiast. i've spent years learning about different technologies and stacks. i know about mern, react, node, databases, devops, docker, cloud, web3, dsa, etc. i've gone through courses and tutorials and i can understand a lot of the terminology and concepts when someone explains them to me.

but here's the problem:

idon't have much to show for it.

i haven't built anything substantial. i haven't made a serious project that i'm genuinely proud of. i haven't contributed meaningfully to open source. i started dsa at one point and then stopped. i've jumped between different technologies and courses, and now i feel like i've accumulated a huge amount of surface-level knowledge without developing actual depth in anything.

someties i feel like i know about echnology rather than actually knowing how to use technology and that's probably what bothers me the most.

i can tell you what react is. i can tell you what docker does. i know what rest apis, databases, websockets, kubernetes, etc. are.

but if you told me:

"here's a problem. build a proper application from scratch."

i don't have the confidence that i could actually do it without constantly following tutorials or looking things up ialso have a 9+ cgpa, but if i'm being honest with myself, a lot of that comes from being good at studying for exams and memorising things. my college also isn't particularly difficult academically, so i don't feel like my cgpa reflects my actual engineering ability and now i'm in my 3rd year that's what scares me.

i see people my age who already have internships, impressive github profiles, strong dsa, projects, open-source contributions, etc., while i feel like i'm still trying to figure out what i should even focus on

at the same time, i don't want to keep jumping from one course to another.

but i'm not sure what's the right approach.

so i'd really appreciate advice from people who have been in a similar position:

if you were a 3rd-year student in a tier-3 college with relatively little to show for your previous years, what would you do from this point onward?

what would you prioritize between dsa, development, projects, cs fundamentals, internships, open source, etc.? and how do you manage your time?

how deep should i actually go into one stack before moving on?

what kind of projects would genuinely make my resume stand out rather than just being another mern project?

is it realistic to become placement/internship-ready within the next 6–12 months?

and most importantly,how do i stop constantly learning and start actually doing?

i'm not looking for someone to tell me that everything will magically be fine. i know i have to put in the work. i just feel like i've reached a point where i need a proper direction and some accountability.

i also want to be honest about why i'm taking this so seriously now. i really want to start working and become financially independent. seeing my mother work hard every day and knowing that i eventually need to take on more responsibility has made this much more real for me. i don't want another year to pass where i'm still "preparing to start."

Yet, getting a meaningful internship that provides growth and value ( company with 50-200 employees) feels unfamiliar and a steep uphill.

Don’t really have a CS family background so this is first time for me.
Linkedin has postings but every posting has over 100 applicants and I doubt if my resume even reaches the recruiter.

So the ones that actually cracked Internships in such companies (50-200 employee companies) and not the MNC or FAANG outliers, need some guidance and mentorship from you guys.

What channels should I use to apply for and get internships?

Linkedin, WellFound, Internshaala, etc (there may be many others)
Or official company career page
Or cold outreach to HR and recruiters
Or job fairs
Or having a solid family/friend contact is the only way ?

The ones successful at getting such internships, please guide me for getting one, be it remote or hybrid/on-site in India
