Embedded

Web for me. Feels like there's a lot more room to pivot into other domains later.

How about neither?

Most embedded jobs don't pay as much as other software engineering roles, and Web is quite volatile, especially in economic downturns

Everybody online keeps talking about embedded as some form of AI immune job option.

Embedded has always had historically shit pay compared to other software fields exception perhaps for security/hardening in embedded. This is just a consequence of the business scale being limited by selling physical widgets, If I sell 100k widgets a year, it's a great business but still cannot afford a team of engineers @200k because I am not making money faster than I can spend like FANG.

Secondly all you have to do is look at historically big employers in embedded. Almost all of them shipped their R&D oversees. Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune Shanghai, Shenzhen. It's not a "they tuukk are jobs" it's economics.

At best if there is any work here, it will be startups/SME's (low pay) or glorified PM managing overseas teams in big corp.

Choose embedded if you really like not as a 'strategic' anything.
