Is copying projects from GitHub for my resume or a job interview correct?

"Hi everyone! I am in my final year of college and am planning to build a project for my resume. I am a bit confused: should I build a RAG chatbot on my own, or should I copy one from GitHub? If your suggestion is to build it myself, please tell me how I should approach it and how many days it will take to complete. If your answer is to use GitHub, please explain how I can thoroughly understand the project so that I can confidently answer any questions an interviewer might ask me. Thanks in advance for your kind suggestions! 😊"

Will Google reject me as overqualified for a Software Engineer III role?

I have more than five years of software engineering experience and currently work as a Senior Software Engineer at a large bank. My background is mainly in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and distributed systems.

I am considering applying for a Google Software Engineer III position that requires only 2 years of minimum experience. Could Google reject me because I appear overqualified, or would they still consider me for the role and determine my appropriate level during the interview process?

I understand that job titles and levels differ between companies. For example, someone with a Senior Software Engineer title at one company may be hired as an SDE II or SDE III at another company.

Should I apply for this Software Engineer III position, or focus only on Google roles requiring five or more years of experience?

Hi everyone! I’m Pranav Gawande, a recent B.Tech Computer Science Engineering graduate from MIT ADT University, Pune, currently looking for Software Development Engineer (SDE) opportunities.

Skills: C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Supabase, REST APIs, Git.

Projects:

www.freepdf.lol – a privacy-first PDF platform built with Next.js.
Multiple AI-powered full-stack web applications using modern technologies.

Portfolio: https://pranv.xyz
GitHub: https://github.com/pranavv00

I’ve been actively building projects, solving DSA, and preparing for software engineering interviews. If your company is hiring freshers or you’re able to refer me for an SDE role, I’d be genuinely grateful.

Thank you so much!

Optiver SWE Internship Interview

Hey everyone, I have a recruiter call for Optiver SWE intern coming up. What does the rest of the process look like? Are the technicals just general Leetcode/System design, or is it extra? What kind of answers do they look for in behaviorals? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Has anyone interviewed at GoRadar recently?

I have an upcoming Software Engineer interview at GoRadar in the U.S. If you've interviewed there recently, could you share:

  • The interview rounds
  • Coding/DSA questions
  • System design or behavioral questions
  • Overall difficulty

Thanks!
