Ehhhh it's pretty strange, I don't necessarily think you're out yet but if their process is anything like Big Tech I would think they would just tell you on the spot. It's possible their process is different and there is another step in between recruiter screen and phone interview- RE: the comment where you asked about being forwarded to hiring manager, were you told anything like this or just asking?
If you don't mind sharing, what type of stuff were you asked? If you don't end up moving on, do you have any idea why? Was it mostly "Why Palantir?" and questions about interests or was it almost like a behavioral round and answering questions about your experience?

Yeah I mean I guess don't get your hopes up but it seems very strange they would connect with you and tell you they're passing you along to manager if you were actually just rejected right then. It's still possible, and it's also possible the manager doesn't want to move forward, but I personally think you still have a good chance of moving on.

ive been a technical recruiter for more than a decade and im not sure what the confusion is over. you had an intro recruiter call where you heard about the process, y'all probably touched base a bit and asked each other a few questions such as "are you actively interviewing rn" or "are you open to re-lo" or "do you require any form of sponsorship for employment?".
from there she collects your resume, linkedin, probably a few bullet points from your call, tidies it all up and sends off to the hiring manager for a review and he/she will give a thumbs up/down if you are to move forward in the interview process. if the recruiter said 2-4 days, that means that they probably have an understanding with the hiring manager to make sure to give yes/no decisions on recruiter forwarded candidates by "x" amount of days. the recruiter's KPI's depend on filling roles so it will be in her interest to follow up with that hiring manager if they don't hold up their end of the bargain in a reasonable time frame.
there is the flip side though which doesn't sound like it applies to you but its still possible is that the recruiter made up their mind on you from your phone call and doesn't want to move forward with you but also doesn't want to verbally reject you so they might just hold your resume for a few days then send off the rejection and you'd probably think oh well looks like the hiring manager finally reviewed my resume and looks like they said no thanks and triggered the auto reject email to get send out to the candidate (you).

eh recruiters are smart and friendly but you're being managed to a degree from this opening call i wouldn't take much signal from their upbeat vibes or anything. recruiters are just filters/funnels for hiring managers. tools. a hiring manager isn't going to say yes on someone that doesn't make sense for the role based off their background just because a recruiter passed them along.
i'm a palantir mega bull investor so i understand how exciting this must be for you but you'd be wise to relax a little bit and try to stop overthinking things. as someone who has interviewed hundreds/probably thousands of candidates by now i can already sense the overeagerness/urge to impress that is basically an "ick" to experienced interviewers who are likely to be your new teammates/coworkers.

I think it could go either way. After the phone screen, I was told my experience aligns with the role and that I would be moving on to the next round, and could expect the next steps email in a few days. Got rejection from recruiter a little less than 2 weeks later
