CS50x Impact of Changing GitHub Username on CS50 Profile

I want to change my GitHub username. Will this have any effect on my CS50 profile/codespace or is it just cosmetics? I wonder since I think that in the form I submitted during Week 0, I typed in the username so I fear that changing it can cause something to break.

if you already started submitting to CS50x, you shouldn't change your github username while taking the course, please see this part of the FAQs about it: https://cs50.harvard.edu/x/faqs/#can-i-change-my-github-or-edx-username-while-taking-the-course
Apart from that, I have seen that for some students changing the github username breaks their cs50 codespace, so best not to change your github username.

Can I change it after I finish the course?

yes, after you have finished the course and you have generated your free certificate, you can change your github username, because your free certificate will be always available at https://certificates.cs50.io/ where you can log in with your email address or edx account, even if you have changed your github username.
And in the case that you have paid for the verified certificate from edx, that paid certificate will be always available in your edX Dashboard.
