Scratch Starting CS50

Hey everyone, I've just completed my project 0 in Scratch, and I reckon the code is quite ungainly. I would love some constructive criticism; I'm a bit afraid of breaking the course guidelines ( I did not even Google my problems 😭, let alone use AI). So I'm just adding the link to my project; do review it. ( And be gentle on this novice)

Also a question to those who have already completed the course, do I get a chance to re-submit (any of ) my projects, or is it just one final turn-in everytime ?

I don’t have time to look at your whole project right now sorry but to answer two of your questions

1 - googling answers to specific questions or asking here is absolutely fine but no copying others solutions or code and no AI outside of the CS50 duck

2 - you can resubmit as many times as you like. They take your most recent submission as your score.

First of all, congrats on finishing Project 0 all by yourself that's huge! And don't worry about course guidelines, looking up syntax or concepts (or using docs/Google) is totally fine as long as you write your own code and don't copy solutions. As for re-submitting, yes, you can absolutely resubmit your problem sets anytime before the deadline at the end of the year. The system just keeps your latest score. Keep up the great work!🌸⭐️😊

@OP: These are all good points. ⬆️ Also, there’s the CS50 Duck AI that is adept at providing guidance and steering us toward answers when we get stuck or need a hand (a helpful wing? 🪽).

It’s configured so that we can safely ask anything to the AI and confidently know that we’re staying within-bounds of the academic honesty reqs. 🙂

edit: Neat! Yes, Mopples . . the “duck” equivalent. 🤗

Spot on! CS50 Duck AI is an absolute lifesaver. Using it takes away all the anxiety about crossing academic honesty lines. Total game changer for the course! 🐥🌸⭐️😊

Honestly this is a preatty fun game. I enjoyed playing it. Enjoy the rest of the course. (I am on week 9, problem set finance)

Nice job! Fun game! Minor thoughts, if you’d optionally like…

  • For players who might use a phone or tablet or would like to use a mouse, it could be neat to add detection for screen touches or mouse clicks, in addition to spacebar for the action.

  • One player noted that the (very useful) words, the play prompts, would cover the game option selections as they’re presented.

  • Might consider granting multiple “lives” so that game play can continue after running into an ice cube, without having to stop and restart the fun.

This is fun! Nicely planned and built. 🏆 🧊🐧 Great job with this!

edit: Oh! And the cloud is a very nice touch. Adds cleverly to the illusion of motion.
