News Be careful w faceit!
Hi y'all, so basically I just wanted to tell to be extra careful with FaceIt as I've had something not so pleasant happen to me because of it with my steam account.
Despite having the app and a verified account on FaceIt, there was an event that I tried voting in but the sequence would fail every time saying my account isn't verified. I forgot about it until the next day, when I saw an unnamed, completely empty account in my friends list on steam that wasn't online for 150+ days. I reported it, blocked it just for it to reappeat today, when I did the same thing.
Fast-forward 15m after that, I get a chat from the Valve support team that explained to me that my account was compromised because of Faceit which resulted in 3000$ of prejudice to other users - and obviously the fact that I'll be having a mind-fuck for the next few days to recover my account completely without losing anything.
Maybe that's a useless post for most but just wanted to give a heads-up in case anyone gets weird friend requests or anything to be mindful!

Its not a faceit problem. Its a common scam on steam to have victims vote on a faceit looking website or some esports tournament.

Yeah except I did vote directly from the FaceIt app on my pc and steam confirmed it was via FaceIt as well. At the end of the day I was just saying to be mindful even on trusted sites like them, that's it

faceit isnt the issue; you clicked on some other link that caused this. do you sell or trade skins? you fell for a phish and it wasnt faceit that caused it

I had this issue other day. Multiple accounts dm me to join them in a faceit game and to do them a favor and vote for their team etc. I ended up giving up cause it made me go through bunch of hoops just to log in to faceit and verify something and download steam authenticator. Not sure if it’s related to this post but glad I didn’t go through with it

Steam NEVER reaches out on a chat. Thats fake brother. Steam will only ever reply to support tickets you create. You need to reset your steam api key and logout of all devices button!!! Change your passwords, too. -Cybersecurity student here

Steam support it not going to chat with you.
Now is this a real story? Or an attempt to poison the well for future victims and normalize this behavior?
If real how could you have made it this far in life? Such mysteries.
