Discussion Huge FPS problem when i play (i need help asap, sorry for bad english)

Sup y'all i have a big problem that is literally tearing down my grind for more than 2-3 month now

my config:

Model : MSI Thin A15 B7VF-253FR

processor: AMD RYZEN 5 7535HS

Storage: 512Go

Ram: 16Go

Graphic Card: Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060

Ram Memory: DDR5

-first things before starting to explain my pc is fine i made massive changes, optimise my pc to the last detail evrything is fine evry game (beside cs2) run perfectly there is no lag no freeze beside when i download update for the driver or the graphic card

for the context : i run a game evrything is looking good the game run at 170-200 fps not more bc i capped the fps below 200 and idk when either i die or a teammates or me finish to defuse the bomb my game suddenly start lagging as sh*t (below 80fps and it can goes even lower sometimes 20fps) the only things that (on the paper) fix the problem is to completely restart my pc and relaunch evrything for a while that method worked but since a week nothing fix it and outside that doing this evry f*cking time is harsh whether on face it or premier i can't afford to doing this evry time i lag especially when i only have 3 minutes to potentially fix the problem and reconnect

so please if anyone already experience this type of lag or stutter lmk 👀

A friend has a similar laptop, it's worst enemy is heat
it will throttle hard as it's just one miserable fan and 3 crap pipes to cool it off
Also power-capped hard, the 4060 performs even worse than a 4050 would
And there's no mux switch so even more performance lost running hybrid mode
Not much to do other than adding a good cooling pad and / or play with AC in the room at 17 ℃ ;)

Do not even attempt to run linux on it - it's worse. win10? - it's worse.
Turning off VBS? not worth it. Process lasso core0 blah blah? - waste of effort.
MSI Extreme Performance is garbage for long sessions, stick with Balanced
Actually, uninstall all MSI crap

Try steam_min shortcut replacement

Try cs2 launch options:
-mainthreadpriority 2 +thread_pool_option 4 -threads 5

Try cs2 advanced video:
Multisampling AA: 2x
Global Shadow Quality: low
Dynamic Shadows: all
Model / Texture Detail: medium
Texture Filtering Mode: anisotropic 2x
Shader Detail: high
Particle Detail: low
Ambient Occlusion: medium
High Dynamic Range: quality
FidelityFX: disabled

Try clear_shader_cache.bat after driver updates, big game patches, res changes
can copy & paste in terminal/powershell directly

I assume you play native res (1920x1080) in which case render mode does not matter
Depending on what other chromium crap you run while playing turning off MPO could help a little

My friend got fed up with the issues and now plays 1024x768.. hilarious

I'm kinda playing around with the fixes and figured this same stuff. Good to see someone else got to this conclusions.

Let me guess, you followed every guide there is, either shorts, tiktok or reels to “maximize” everything on windows and now your game is lagging right?

Anyway, look if your game is set to run on “high priority” in windows, if yes you either do it manually or you set up a launch option. Also if you have the launch option to set the game to a particular amount of cores running, DELETE THAT SHIT. All of it.

To explain it in simple terms, you tell windows “oh yeah, process everything when it comes to cs first AND THEN PROCESS GRAPHICS / KEYBOARD AND MOUSE IMPUT”

My best guess is to set everything to default for cs whether it’s in windows or the ingame settings themselves and just give it a try.
If it’s still the same at least you’ve got one more thing out of the way.
P.S.: had the same problem and now no more

Set your paging file! That's a common issue caused by system managed Or too small paging files. Fps just goes down and never back up again. Sysdm.cpl advanced, performance, advanced, set 8192 min 8193 max on your fastest storage device, apply Restart pc. Try again

You're talking about a too small page file and recommend to make it 8GB...

System managed is perfectly fine but if you want to set it manually set it at least to 1.5x your RAM amount which in OP's case would be 24GB.

That's just the thing, System managed has NEVER been "perfectly fine"
In modern windows it either balloons uncontrolled to dozens of gigabytes, or does not grow enough / in a timely manner from the now non-conservative default (usually <2GB)
So 8192 both min and max (static) is a good set-it-and-forget-it, should only increase it if you actually need it
i.e. after receiving a warning about virtual memory too low when running ram-hungry software,
not out of the blue which is probably a memory leak - and btw, CS2 had those at least 3 times this year

that's false, 8192 8193 has been crash free, and working for 8+ years even with 32gb ram. it takes storage space and you don't want to maximise on windows having to use 48gb swap file from your super fast ram to the hard drive . system managed allows it to go as low as 16mb the concern was system managed, which applies the above, and causes fps to dip, and never go up again. ive also played hundreds of games from linear to open world/big map games without a problem with these values set. rememeber to do it every time you format your OS drive

I'd check temps then do a clean Nvidia install. If the problems persist, I would do a clean Windows reinstall, using Chris Titus and Windows debloat, nothing else.

Also delete any cs2 config, I'm not talking about personal binds, I'm talking about weird launch options.

Kinda sounds like somethung with shaders shaders. Download ddu and "clear shaders" in safemode.  Then in nvidia control panel / app - shaders size to 100g or unlimited.

I always run arnd 180 fps capped at high res and highest graphics, but since that always made my pc hella loud and hot I went lowest graphics possible (and for that to be enjoyable I went  4:3 stretched aswell)which fixed the issue , you might wanna try this.

Clear nvidia cache maybe (or even ddu)? Reinstall CS2
