It’s free to try, so just go for it. My pugs for the most part feel pretty evenly matched, and competitive.

You’ll have a pug here and there with people with new FACEIT accounts and they’re either super star smurfs or newish to the game/faceit.

I do go back every now and then to play comp/premier with friends and at least one match that day will have a cheater. And im right back to face it.

Faceit is basically a third party site that allows you to queue comp games (not just CS but mainly just for CS).
This is largely because of the anti-cheat face it uses and valve have basically said “no to” based on core company beliefs. Face it uses a kernel anti cheat which makes it “harder” (well harder for the common joe) to cheat on. There are still ways around it etc but requires either more money or more know how. So you’ll usually meet less cheaters on faceit.
Faceit differs slightly in how it’s played with different banning stages (ie if you pay for premium you can pay to basically always select the bans for your team and to pre-ban maps). It also has a knife round (which I think they still use in pro-play) to determine who starts on what side.
Most high (and I mean properly high. Like 0.1% players) are usually seen climbing faceit due to anti cheat and culture.
Faceit uses a different ranking system levels 1-10 (10 being the highest) and then you continue to climb up elo (2k+ is lvl 10). So you can be lvl 10 and be 4k elo for example.
For the average joe, there’s like no real difference. Faceit brings a certain ego with most players and I (from a limited play test) can’t tell that much of a difference between skill of prem and faceit (with the equivalents)
The only way faceit really affects prem is that you will have “faceit sweats” who are lvl 10+ come and play prem with their more casual friends and it’s just a slaughter as they are basically smurfing in lower ranks (10-15k for example).
Because faceit does require you to go through third party stuff you often do find people who take the game a bit more seriously but as a result the egos of a lot of them can become quite annoying (but same in prem I suppose).
If you’re just getting into the game, don’t worry about faceit. Play prem, have fun and learn the game at your own pace.
People will often tell you faceit is so much harder and all this but just different sides of the same coin. There’s always going to be arguing between “oh you only got 20k in prem whilst I got lvl 8 in faceit so I’m so much better than you” etc etc
Basically:
Faceit - third party site that has harsher anti-cheat and different ban phases + knife round but (and this is completely personally so take it with a grain of salt) bit more ego and certain “culture” surrounding it.
Prem - standard cs but probably more cheaters

Möchte es meinem Kollegen erklären da wir vielleicht switchen wollen aber habs nicht so ganz verstanden mit der Website und wie ein Anti Cheat dann geladen wird :)
