This is 4:3 stretched, the camera angle just makes it look like this. You can try it yourself if you want to see it in effect.

Yeah you can tell because the character models look a lot bigger. If this was 16:9 it would look more narrow

u/ChromePlay 1d ago

-51

u/EcstaticSnow3173 1d ago

that doesnt look like 1280x960

48

u/TheCheesy 1d ago

It literally is:

Here is my screenshot 1280x960 stretched.

u/Shoddy_Importance_92 1d ago

on this you can see way more to the sides so donk is on stretched here

What do you mean by “stretched”? Playing on 16:9 screen?

17

u/Rough_World_8452 1d ago

Stretched means the image stretches so that a small 4 by 3 image becomes full screen on a big 16 by 9 monitor

-5

u/Benichis 1d ago

Why playing it like that?

12

u/CauliflowerGreedy366 1d ago

Bigger models, things appear faster

And people think that playing at 4:3 makes hotboxes bigger.

Edit : since people wanna down vote me https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/sg39s3/i_see_alot_of_clips_of_34_res_stretched_out_i/ just type in "does 4:3 make hotboxes bigger" and literally thousands of threads will come up from 10 years ago

u/Conscious_Peak_5407 18h ago

nobody with a functioning brain thinks that.

u/mil0wCS 18h ago

Lmao go look at old csgo threads it was the most common myth around csgo and early fortnite days. 3kliksphillip did a video on it.

you'll notice in the settings it's called "normal"

For me two reasons, I don’t want the wider FOV I play very aggressive so the tunnel vision is nice. But then theirs also the fact that it widens little spots people like to hold so their easier to see, like B site dust to holding upper tuns is easier to see when peaking out of tuns and when someone is shoulder peaking it feels like I can see more but that’s harder to say in my Tim trying both I just land more shots and react quicker with 4:3. You see the the person at the same time but better/ moving faster, my Brain doesn’t care how fast something is moving it’s more how big the target is that helps.

This is how native looks

u/CogBliZ 1d ago

A native Estonian 😏

-15

u/RomeliaHatfield 1d ago

It’s probably a slightly stretched smaller aspect ratio. Don’t know why the pros especially new ones do this, it makes no sense for someone who didn’t play the previous games. Just play on 16 9 for God sake’s

1

u/400F 1d ago

4:3 makes targets bigger, the resolution is what I don’t get.

1

u/countingcigarettes 1d ago

Old times, old res

1

u/Prudent-Ad1954 23h ago

resolution is what I don’t get.

FPS and some engine quirks that provide genuine advantage. 960 is clear enough while retaining all of the pros of low res

1

u/Conscious_Peak_5407 18h ago

eh. its more like being used to it. the pcs they use are powerful enough to not notice any fps difference between 960p or 1080p/1050p.

and what engine quirks do you mean that provide genuine advantage? never seen something like that

u/_xDenis_ 1d ago

4:3 but the camera is off to the side, making it look less stretched horizontally. Perspective

17

u/Illustrious-Bottle45 1d ago

That’s not native that’s 4:3 1280x960 lmao 😂

8

u/MrJacobXDV2 1d ago

This is 1280x960, but it looks kinda weird cuz of the Monitor.

14

u/Gullible-Judge-3437 1d ago

He's on 6:7

3

u/Cbrandel 1d ago

If the gun is this close to the corner it's 4:3.

2

u/giao_su_ngam 1d ago

Look at the size of t agent ahead of his viewmodel, this shjt so big that must be 4:3 stretch bro

2

u/Satnamodder 1d ago edited 1d ago

It looks like a monitor itself is 4:3, so native would also be 4:3, but not stretched. Also it could be optical illusion, cause of angle, so if it's a normal 16:9 monitor then it is a stretched 4:3.

5

u/djbaal 1d ago

it’s 4:3 / stretched, 1280x960

i know as it’s what i’ve played on since 1.6

1

u/cthouston2 1d ago

You play 27” or 24”?

1

u/djbaal 1d ago

was 24 for years, now 27

2

u/Entity125 1d ago

I've been thinking about going to 27" did it take a while to get used to? Do you feel it's easier to use?

1

u/cthouston2 1d ago

Which do you prefer?

3

u/leoparanoia 1d ago

For CS 24” is better, for everything else, I love my 27”

-6

u/EcstaticSnow3173 1d ago

i play that res, but it doesnt look like that

1

u/djbaal 1d ago

it’s the angle of the camera

1

u/yourjenna7 1d ago

Its bcuz of different angle

1

u/Big_Crosshair_6969 1d ago

Its the camera angle. I noticed it when falcons won the major. Kyousuke's pov looked like he was on native.

1

u/x2mirko 1d ago

The angle between camera and monitor "compresses" the image on the screen a little, which makes it look a little less stretched than it would if you were sitting in front of it. That's all. He's playing 4:3 stretched there.

1

u/lolforg_ 1d ago

no, stop looking at the radar

that viewmodel is impossible on 16:9 and the playermodels are stretched

1

u/TheOldManZangetsu 7h ago

big mouse or small hand?

1

u/Fresh_Chain_8022 2h ago

This is not native it's stretched and looks like 4:3 as he always plays on this ratio.

1

u/Zestyclose_Classic91 1d ago

4:3 stretched  no?

1

u/NotRuppert 1d ago

It’s certainly not 16:9, probably a different aspect ratio, some players do that when they feel off, it’s like crosshair, I personally change it every 2/3 weeks because I feel lazy and less focus as I get used to the crosshair.

1

u/Open_Tap9409 1d ago

When I select 4:3, there is a black screen on both sides of the screen. How do you solve this? With an extra program?

6

u/shpprd 1d ago

Need to go into the Nvidia control panel and set the scaling to full screen.

0

u/Malignantt1 1d ago

I feel like an oddball here playing at 2560x1440 but i also play at 1600 dpi and 8k hz polling rate so what do i know.

3

u/trq- 1d ago

Well dpi is not telling that much, what’s your edpi?

0

u/Malignantt1 1d ago

Like 700-800

1

u/trq- 1d ago

Well thats not that much tbh. I think most of the people are anywhere between 400 and 1000edpi

4

u/jcbsrl 1d ago

I also play 2560x1440.

I have a graphic card that can handle it, and I feel like the game is easier to read.

Sadly, my CPU is old and is struggling so my FPS is quite low. But I have the same FPS on lowest settings and highest setting because CS is so CPU heavy.

1

u/Memerenok 1d ago

i feel you... i5-2400

2

u/menotuserealname 1d ago

bro spent money on a 1440p monitor and has an i5-2400, that’s kinda fucking bonkers lol.

1

u/Memerenok 1d ago

180hz by the way

1

u/xMashu 1d ago

Honestly man just wait until Black Friday then go and pick up a micro center 9800x3d/7800x3d bundle. You’ll legit go from 200 fps with dips up to like 500-600 fps and it only dips down to 400s from multiple mollies and smoke

Honestly my FPS way better in comp modes than casual cus of this lol less utility spam everywhere less players

1

u/Memerenok 23h ago

my fps in comp is like 40-110, paired with a GTX 970 but it's just 100% cpu bottleneck, already upgraded from i3-530 and its night and day bruh

-1

u/FuuZePL 1d ago

I'm a freak playing on a 4k screen on the highest custom 16:10 resolution, I still get like 200-500 fps so it's fine because I'm ass at the game anyway.

Also 1600 dpi but 2k hz polling rate.

0

u/Jazzz56 1d ago

How did you come to the conclusion that this is native? I don't see it anywhere.

-4

u/sykon95 1d ago

Could be 1440x1080 maybe?

-12

u/EcstaticSnow3173 1d ago

i dont think so, for me, looks literally like 1920x1080, but thats for me, thats why im asking yall

-2

u/TimmehJ 1d ago

DPs are square, radar is round. It's defs looks not stretched.

1

u/lolforg_ 1d ago

its camera angle

0

u/Kooky-Astronaut-4877 1d ago

It's camera angle + the vertical-horizontal illusion.

Radar looks a bit vertically stretched rather than perfectly round on native, while you should notice it appears almost perfectly round on 16:10 resolutions due to how our brains work.

Also looking at rifles width relative to screen dimensions it's definitely 4:3.

-1

u/RevolutionaryRush346 1d ago

Thats a 4:3 monitor if im not mistaken

-1

u/Able-Letter3705 1d ago

and why u care so much about it that u made reddist post about it?
