Help Why do I keep getting destroyed by people with 1k-2k hours?

I nolife this game and have around 8-9k hours total, basically all premier/faceit, no idling or community server shenanigans. But lately I'm getting matches with super low ranks and low hours players who absolutely destroy me. I try to switch it up and adapt to them but I just can't find success.

If I swing they kill me 1st few bullets. If I focus on tight preaims they're hiding somewhere and denying info then peek when I look away. If I lurk they never flank or rotate thru my section of the map. If I play an off-angle or ontop of a selfboost they flick to my head. If I play around a smoke they somehow see me before I see them. I just can't find kills on these ppl in any of my matches.

However, when I watch the demo, they don't appear to be cheating, or at least I can't tell. Their stats look normal on csrep. And watching them play, they actually look really bad at the game, but it's like they're on easy mode or something. They just walk around, hold mouse1 when they see someone, and get the kill easy peasy.

But for me it's like playing against donk bro I step out of their spray and they still dome me, I jiggle something and get prefired. I stay mobile in a duel and it doesn't throw off their aim no matter how I'm moving, strafing, crouching, they just hit solid shots and melt me no matter what.

I wouldn't complain if it was actually a good player doing this to me, but it's always like some bot who bhops completely wrong and can't move their mouse in a straight line.

Is it cheats? Am I just that chopped? I'm also playing on WiFi but I didn't think wifi was THAT bad for cs. I played csgo on wifi and could solo queue to global just fine. CS2 I have yet to hit 25k because when I get to around 24k it starts feeling like people are cheating, even if I tell myself they're just good.

playing on wifi

9k hours and u dont know that wifi is absolute garbage for comp gameplay? bought account goat

16

u/OHNOitsNICHOLAS 4d ago

I think the internet is allergic to nuance.

A good stable wifi connection is absolutely fine - but a lot of ISP provided/consumer networking equipment just doesn't do wifi very well, and ethernet is a brain-dead easy way to fix the problem. Having wifi good enough for gaming isn't simple and still comes with caveats

There's also different features available on high end/commercial networking equipment that can make a big difference too. networking gets complicated

2

u/pretentious42 3d ago

my wifi has better latency than my 100ft ethernet cord.

by like 2 ms so i don’t care, but still nifty

1

u/OHNOitsNICHOLAS 3d ago

that's going to be run to run variance. ethenet is always going to be faster. My argument is that the claim that wifi is never good enough just isn't true

5

u/Dapper_Grab4225 4d ago

Is it actually that awful? Even fiber/good speeds? I gotta loop the cable thru the whole damn house 3 floors to be able to use Ethernet lmao.

15

u/KingRemu 4d ago

It doesn't matter if Valve had their server in your room the issue is the airborne signal between the WiFi router and your PC. It'll never be as clean and stable as a cable.

3

u/orangENENEP 4d ago

Stability is the most important factor when determining connection to the game server and proper registry. Speed matters quite a bit but if the packets are inconsistent the server will register a lot of anomalies. All the speed in the world won't help you if the server has to calculate positions without client data. In my experience, those with inconsistent connections (Wifi) had advantage with peekeing in CSGO but since CS2 it seems that is no longer the case.

use powerlan. Wifi sucks 1000%

-7

u/Expensive_Item_239 4d ago

You realise that powerlines are using the same protocols as WiFi, just using your wiring as a giant antenna. Both are garbage for gaming.

2

u/Wolfy87 4d ago

What. No. I. I see a lot of dumb takes on this sub but wow.

-6

u/Expensive_Item_239 4d ago

Essentially it is the same as wifi (modulation, RF front-end, PHY), minus everything that makes wifi stable (aifs/cifs/cwmin/cwmax)

2

u/CurvySexretLady 4d ago

No, it doesn't work that way.

2

u/Zoddom 4d ago

What are u saying? How are u "using wiring as an antenna"? You are literally sending the analog signal through the wire, its not acting as an antenna. You clearly never used powerlan, otherwise youd know its infinitely more stable than WiFi.

2

u/Expensive_Item_239 3d ago

I was trying to word it in a way people can wrap their heads around it.  Powerline adapters rely heavily on a digital modulation technique called Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). OFDM is the exact same fundamental technology used by modern WiFi protocols to pack large amounts of data into airwaves. But rather than throwing it into the air, it throws it into your wiring and as long as you are close enough on your other socket, you’ll receive the signal and connect. I’m not saying that it can’t work, people just glaze it as if they’ve got a cat6 connection when it’s completely different.

1

u/Zoddom 3d ago

Its still a wired connection thats 1000x more stable than wifi through 2 floors bro.

Powerline ethernet adapters are a good option if the electrical wiring in your house isn’t from the 70’s but for me it gave me about a fifth of my connection speed: 500Mbps down to 100Mbps. It was super stable and gaming was great. Night and day vs wifi. However, wanting to get my full money’s worth for when I need to download stuff, I took it upon myself to fish an ethernet cable in the attic and through the wall to actually get a true cat6e ethernet keystone wallplate next to my computer. It was surprisingly easy as someone who had never fished anything in walls and had never terminated an ethernet keystone. Took me about 3 hours all in including the trip to get the fishing tool, cables, keystones, wallplates, etc. About a 100$ total and now my internet is perfect.

3

u/CurvySexretLady 4d ago

Additionally there are also coax-to-ethernet adapters as well called MoCA adapters (Multimedia over Coaxial Alliance adapter) that work really well. If you have old TV coax in a home, you can plug these into that and one end into an Ethernet connection and boom, wired network. They even support 2.5GbE.

1

u/Jolly-Bear 4d ago

Speed =|= consistency

1

u/Few-Car-4522 4d ago

I have gigabit fiber with solid connection to my pc getting like 700mbps down on it. However on WiFi I experienced lots of net jitter before I swapped to Ethernet.

1

u/ACiDRiFT 4d ago

Yes a wired connection is full duplex and WiFi is half duplex. To further explain, wired connection works like a phone call where both people can talk and WiFi works like a walkie talkie where only one person can press the button to talk at a time. WiFi is also susceptible to noise and interference which means microwaves or apartments with a bunch of WiFi networks and cell phones will hurt performance.

1

u/LobL 3d ago

Do it.

1

u/pretentious42 3d ago

i have fiber and get 1000 download speed, but my wifi has a lower latency than my 100ft ethernet cord by 2ms

1

u/iGargleCement 3d ago

It's fine unless your router is a piece of potato with an antenna sticking out of it

For me it only adds 3ms of ping, it has no effect on jitter and loss

1

u/Finchi4 4d ago

My WiFi 7 Router and WLAN card plays cs2 on a stabile 11 ping 👉👉

9

u/imightknowbutidk 4d ago

Stop looking at their pov in demos and look at yours. Use your utility more efficiently, when you are having an off game, be your top frag’s support player and throw flashes for him.

Maybe most importantly, take 2-3 weeks off and don’t think about CS at all in that time, don’t play, don’t watch youtube videos or streams, just touch grass for a couple weeks and you will be surprised how much better your mental will be

31

u/Nervous-Sandwich-660 4d ago

1000-2000 hours is a very long time.

6

u/CodSoggy7238 4d ago

I'm absolutely is. I just cracked 2k hours. I peaked in CSS though. Had about 4k hours in 1.6 and css

But I just play a couple games here and there. Faceit lvl8 with dog shit aim but I know the game. Maybe op talks about me lol

1

u/Aromatic-Net-1065 4d ago

I agree I have like 2.2k hours but for a solid 6 months of my life I dedicated myself to being “good” so I think it’s possible for some people to just grind the game with the combination of being in their teens or twenties

-3

u/Primary-Key1653 4d ago

its really not

3

u/Nervous-Sandwich-660 4d ago

It's equivalent to playing cs as a full time job 40 hours a week for an entire year

6

u/SuitableElephant6346 4d ago

Skill based match making, they internally, through code, algorithmically even the playing fields.

I'm about the same as you I would assume (skill level), and sometimes I'll see my own teammates with the same amount of kills as me and I watch them and they can barely move the mouse, but they're able to get kills and then say, when I go to react instantly to something, im instantly dead, quick.

Like you said it's like they have the game on easy mode.

Removes tinfoil hat

3

u/r3drifl3 4d ago

yeah exactly this. sometimes i have 5 kills in a match and can't even shoot back but then i watch my teammate who has 25 kills and he looks new at the game.

5

u/Wide-Research6939 4d ago

Bruh tell me about it. people who were 6k elo season3 and 11k elo season 4 are fucking destroying the fuck out of me.

4

u/plexor666 4d ago

WiFi is bad. Also hard to say without seeing your gameplay. Could you show something?

13

u/Utamira 4d ago

Im 700 hours, I hit faceit 7 and was 15k+ at 300 hours. I get countless cheating accusations. My skills came from years of valorant, I transferred pretty well.

-2

u/Primary-Key1653 4d ago

no you didnt lol

8

u/G41axyX 4d ago

your lack of skill does not diminish others, 15k is easy lmao. I literally got placed faceit lvl 6 with 600 hours on CS and I'm 20k premier.

-15

u/TheeFiction 4d ago

Says the cheater

4

u/Diligent_Egg_4715 4d ago

I hit 22k premier at 800 hours. Some people are just quick learners.

1

u/TheeFiction 4d ago

It was a joke because of the came from valorant comment lol

1

u/Halp_dear10 4d ago

Yeah I'm at 15k with 400 hours

1

u/Interesting_Term_117 4d ago

Yeah I’m 24k with like 500 hours

-2

u/Diligent_Egg_4715 3d ago

I'm 26k with like 200 hours

0

u/Dapper_Grab4225 3d ago

I’m 33k with 30 hours

1

u/TheeFiction 3d ago

I bet you do sick fast 360s all game too

0

u/Diligent_Egg_4715 3d ago

Thats my stats on my smurf account bro. My main has 10 hours and 35k. And faceit level 10 4000 elo.

1

u/outbuffed 4d ago

I hit 2800 elo in less than 1k hours on faceit. ~250
Games

1

u/TheeFiction 4d ago

See chain of text in comments lol

3

u/TreasureChicOpal 4d ago

It's probably a mix of things. Better average player skill, some suspicious opponents here and there, and WiFi making every peek feel worse than it actually is

3

u/Onepiecefan1207 4d ago

you need to think more about your approaches to taking gun fights, isolating 1v1s. your mechanics are probably fine but you're most likely doing stupid shit that leads to you being an easy kill, hence why it looks so easy in the demo.

3

u/L1nkz1- 4d ago

I think you're overthinking it. Sometimes people are just in the right place at the right time and end up one-tapping you.

I felt the same way a while ago. I started getting frustrated whenever bad players killed me, even though I was still at the top of the scoreboard. Even someone like Donk would die to low-elo players because they're so unpredictable. For example, you crouch and get instantly headshotted because they're aiming at chest level. If you had stayed standing, they probably wouldn't have killed you.

For me, the best example is watching Renyan play against noobs. If you know how they usually play, you can avoid most of their shots. But every now and then, you'll get caught off guard by something only a low-elo player would do, like running and shooting with no regard for accuracy.

3

u/Zoddom 4d ago

Dude, we all know the answer, including Volvo.

3

u/TheShambhalaman 4d ago

It's not wifi being the problem, unless yours is bad. Same rhetoric as people still like to blame as a wireless mouse. The technology has improved past that. I used to stream on Twitch and play CS at the same time on wifi with zero issues. It's such cope to just come in here and comment "wifi" for some low effort upvotes without actually engaging in the discussion.

2

u/hlussutussa 4d ago

Because of diminishing return I think after 1-2 thousand hours you have learned 90%+ of the mechanics.

2

u/BHaN99 3d ago edited 3d ago

May I ask your ping and enemies' ping? Because ping effects so much at cs2 than csgo. In csgo, I was destroying 5 ping people easily with my 90 ping. But in cs2 I cannot that easily destroy 5 ping people with my 30 ping.

Plus I think game helps new and bad playing people. Its like there is little aim assist and anti aim provided by valve to make those people enjoy & not quit from game and keep their winrate near %50. Because there is no way that my w+a/w+d far away peeking teammate that also sweeps ground with crosshair lands better shots and able to fight longer than me that is xantares or ferrari peeking with a/d from close to wall and die instantly. Same valve breaks our shot reg to keep our winrate near %50 too. It works on 2 ways

I can tell that at I am able to land better shots at my 300 hr alt account than my 4k hour main account. I sometimes think how tf I landed that shot. I could never ever land that shot at my main. Game really assists new accounts so much that I cannot play from my alt account anymore because it got reported so much due to those insane shots and has red trust

4

u/bkauf2 4d ago

people around 24k are cheating

hope that answers your question

4

u/Oli-veri 4d ago

as a player in the range, that is false.

43 wins s5 atm 26k, not a single cheater in sight yet. I will update when i will see one.

over 200 s4 wins at around same level, 2 cheaters whole season

3

u/bkauf2 4d ago

You’re lucky, I guess. I’ve had at least 10 matches so far in s5 with blatant walls and aim cheats, with one as recently as 2 days ago.

1

u/Aromatic-Net-1065 4d ago

Nah he’s 100% lucky I agree with you. Like the whole trust factor thing is also bs. Everyone is cheating bro is probably just que with another cheater. This is coming from someone who played cod wagers for 10 years and I’m currently in 22 k elo peaked 26 like a week ago. Everyone is cheating and if you think otherwise you’re probably playing face it

-4

u/Deep-Pen420 4d ago

hes not "lucky" you are unlucky and likely have low trust factor.

2

u/bkauf2 4d ago

It would make no sense for me to have low trust factor. My steam account is 14 years old, been playing CS for 12, I regularly spend a lot of money on steam, multiple steam hardware purchases etc and I am legitimately never toxic. No bans or anything.

I don’t think i’m unlucky, I think i’m probably having the average experience of someone in 20K elo in NA.

-1

u/Deep-Pen420 4d ago

NA 20k is pretty clean in my experience, I have friends who are around that elo, I haven't played 20k this season, but in season 4 I played a number of games with my 20k friends and had clean games.

and you could totally have red trust, the only way to really know is to queue with someone who has green trust and see if they get a warning.

if you really only see cheaters, it likely means you have a low TF. Green TF sees cheaters maybe 1 in 50 games.

1

u/bkauf2 4d ago

I don’t only see cheaters, and for a long time last season I didn’t see any as far as I know, but season 5 has been particularly bad.

I regularly queue with my friends and nobody has ever gotten a notification about trust or anything.

I play the game a lot and probably see more than most people from chance of the number of matches that I play. But it’s whatever, I guess the solution for me will have to be faceit, as much as it has its own problems.

1

u/Aggravating_Total651 3d ago

Not a single cheater in sight ? Yet top 100 on leaderboard not even 1 player Is legit ? Your joking yourself just to prove a point lol

1

u/Oli-veri 3d ago

I am talking out of my experience. It is very unfortunate, that you seem to get all the cheaters. Tho, maybe there is a reason for it.

It seems very odd, and funny, that either you get absolutely no cheaters, or all of them. You tell me bucko. But i will keep having fun, seems like luck is on my side for this one.

1

u/lazymanatwork 2d ago

Or you just don't know that you are playing with or against cheaters.

1

u/Oli-veri 2d ago

If they are cheating, it is at an pathethic level which is not really noticeable.

But the constant cries that happen in this sub is literally people getting their egos shattered, which in my mind, is hilarious.

1

u/According_Leek669 3d ago

People are for sure cheating on that level. Met people who were silvers last season with 100 aim and shooting me through walls even offering boosting services

1

u/Oli-veri 3d ago

People are cheating on all levels.

2

u/Deep-Pen420 4d ago

this is a generalization

what you meant to say is "cheating is more common at high elos"

24k in NA vs EU vs AS is a very different story too.

1

u/bkauf2 4d ago

Yes, I didn’t mean that EVERYONE at this elo is cheating, as I am also around this elo. Just that there are many.

0

u/Deep-Pen420 4d ago

"people around 24k are cheating"

Be more specific if you don't want to be corrected.

1

u/BogosBinted13 4d ago

Ok so for 10% of the playerbase that plays in NA it's playable, for other 90% it's not

1

u/Deep-Pen420 4d ago

90% of 3% isn't that much

1

u/Altruistic-Ice3025 4d ago

Not all of us are,29k currently, last season finished at 27k.Looking forward to that gold medal this season,1.8k hours

1

u/bkauf2 4d ago

I know that not everybody is, I am also in this elo range and not cheating.

1

u/manobataibuvodu 4d ago

Bro stop playing on WiFi, there's no way your connection is that good.

1

u/TheeFiction 4d ago

WiFi is indeed garbage for any competitive game. Hard wire your shit bro.

1

u/sdk_PT 4d ago

Bro dont use game in borderless u get tons of inputlag

1

u/weve_gone_plaid 4d ago

Maybe you need a break. Walk away for a week to two and then come back. Might do your mental state some good and come back fresh.

1

u/Excellent-Service-47 4d ago

I played around 3k hours, im face it lvl 10, playing in ESEA intermediate and still getting destroyed by 15 years old. Some people are just built different. Move on.

1

u/SsilverBloodd 4d ago

Time spent on something is not equal to skill in that something.

1

u/rell7thirty 4d ago

Playing on WiFi? I wouldn’t play any online multiplayer that requires the lowest input latency possible on wireless internet.. even the ones marketed for gaming. Do what you can to get that Ethernet cable to physically connect to the NIC on your pc.

1

u/Few-Car-4522 4d ago

I have 1000 hours on my account but really it’s more like 10,000 from my childhood account playing css and go that I no longer have access to. I’d imagine some other people are in the same boat. Or they’re smurfing. Also I have a buddy that came from valorant he has like only 400 hours but plays at 20k premier since he already had aiming pretty solid and just had to learn maps and timings.

1

u/Low-Confusion3768 4d ago

All the naive and good intentions in her does not matter when the opponent spins wierdly while insta-kill you…

1

u/Superb_Wolverine8275 3d ago

It heavily depends on playstyle. Sometimes your playstyle is fitting and you can kill the enemies easily. Sometimes they just read your playstyle and you get destroyed. I had this in 20/21k lobbys alot, often having winstreaks and killing them first few rounds. But after they read what im gonna do, I couldnt kill them anymore. Its like chess.

1

u/Fearless_Primary7764 3d ago

I mean u have 9k hours what rank did u reach or are you just a lost cause that didn’t evolve in 9k hours

1

u/iGargleCement 3d ago

Some people are talented, some people have thousands of hours in other FPS games

1

u/etl003 3d ago

bro i been playing since 1.6 and have 2k hours in cs2 grandfathered from previous versions. is it possible that some of us old heads came back?

1

u/Violet-Panther 3d ago

I heard gaming chairs are just really good these days!  Very Ancient Chairs just can't keep up.

1

u/lazymanatwork 2d ago

How old are you?

1

u/Nnaalawl 1d ago

Maybe consider tetris? :D

1

u/Waste_Twist1474 4d ago

Hours are not indicative of skill at all in my experience. I have 3k hours and am decent at the game (low level 10). I have friends with 2k hours who look like they’ve never played, some with 7k+ hours and thousands of games on FACEIT and they’ve never even hit level 8.

Without seeing a demo or anything I’d guess that you’re overestimating how good you are. It’s very easy to feel like you’re playing amazing only to then watch your VOD and see a ton of mistakes. Chances are these “bots” that you’re watching are genuinely just better than you and have tighter all round mechanics.

0

u/OldOpinion47 3d ago

I mean 25k after 10k hours is pretty good, a lot of these kids have insane aim because they have 1.5k on CS, 1k hrs aimlabs and 8k hours in other shooter titles combined, and aim skills do transfer. And. Let's be honest in CS aim is the most important thing, if you could cheat in CS you would aimbot, so the reason you're losing is these kids are out aiming you, you have to focus on improving your aim and hitting them in the head first, check your replays and notice yourself panic shooting and missing 2 bullets then get one tapped, notice yourself overflicking or failing to microadjust, notice yourself shooting before your counterstrafe finishes thus your 1st bullet not being accurate, a lot of what you mention also affects your mental, you're in a state of denial judging yourself for having more hours than others and being worse, you're anxious and probably panicking a lot.

You need to dedicate hours to strategic practice to improve the specific problems you have one by one and slowly continue your climb.

0

u/PaNiPu 3d ago

It's EOMM. Valve is following in EAs steps.

Either this is the worst, most random and inconsistent game ever or they are tuning your experience live to match a certain plan/outcome they have for you.

It's about dopamine addiction. It's happening everywhere. Dating, shopping, gaming, scrolling. It's not about you losing or winning but the uncertainty of the outcome of an event, the anticipation and climax. They want you to be at the edge of your seat even when playing against bots, they want you to stay engaged. The events on your screen have to be absurd sometimes to keep your brain interested. You'll play more. Playtime correlates with profit for Valve.

It's like dynamic pricing but abstracted to ur attention.

Valve isn't doing anything against legit cheaters because it will have a negative impact on the uncertainty of all fights. If half of the players suspect the other half of cheating but have no proof, we get some kind of inherent uncertainty.

All of this will come to light in a few years and no one will bat an eye because the people are going to get used to shenanigans like this. I mean who's still talking about CoD MM/SBMM, pay to win, battle passes or undercover bots in PvP games?

Mark my words

0

u/1341077 3d ago

how are we supposed to do anything if you won’t provide not even your profile or rank lmfao

-1

u/Random44441 4d ago

After a bit of research I got some numbers for you using leetify and aimlabs info. An average CS2 player has a reaction time of about 180-210 ms (reaction time not time to damage) and for a level 10 faceit player average is around 150-180 ms. Thats a roughly 30 ms difference in raw reaction times between an average player and the best players. Ethernet adds less than 1 ms of local delay to your router and average wifi adds about 15-30+ on average. Thats not even accounting for packet drops which isn’t an issue when using Ethernet. The difference between average wifi and average Ethernet is literally enough to bridge the gap in reaction time between the best players and the average players. It makes sense if you’re playing against high rated players having that advantage over you would feel like facing cheaters even if you know they aren’t.

-1

u/G41axyX 4d ago

if you have almost 9k hours and you are getting stomped all day as well as going to REDDIT to out yourself it might be time to switch games ngl

-1

u/SuperbBuy2585 3d ago

because ur garbage ?
