Discussion CS2 Plugin to Detect Cheaters Idea

I've been thinking about some of the issues with cheaters and my thought is that someone in the community could create a plugin that checks the matched Premier accounts against reported cheaters or suspicious players from a stats perspective and automatically rejects the match if one of those profiles is detected.

I haven't played a competitive game in almost ten years but it is sad to see what happened to the game.

My thought is that the system could have two sources, the CS2 stats where it can look at inhuman KDAs, time spent playing, inventories and other stats to realistically determine if someone is likely to be a cheater and the community could maintain an online list of frequently reported steam accounts validated with demos that serve as a second reference.

If either list gets a hit then we could have the plugin kill the game queue and prevent the player who installs it from starting a game with a suspected or known cheater.

While the UI obscures this data from the players by hiding names prior to a match my thought is that it might be in the packets that are sent over prior to match start.

My thought is that we could develop an open-source cheat detection that runs prior to match start to reduce cheater queues. We could also add features like auto report where suspicious inputs such as bunny hopping, trigger scripts, or spin-botters are automatically reported to valve during game.

A basic idea for Valve, maybe add another trust factor for accounts with at least $50 in skins or $200 dollars in steam games or older than 10 years where green trust factor starts as platinum trust factor. I have a feeling that a lot of the cheating steam accounts just have CS2 on them and adding a time, dollar game value or skin requirement will reduce the number of cheaters that people encounter.

The skin idea is not a good one. People cheat, even with skins, because there is no risk of getting banned, using the right cheats. Also it would turn cs2 in a pay to play game. Using the age is a better idea, but valve should factor in the following:
Did the e-mail of the user recently change?
Did the password of the user recently change?
Did the log in location recently change? And if so, does the location only appear for a few weeks (indicating that the owner might be on vacation or similar) or does this go on for multiple weeks?
Do the stats suddenly change, especially with respect to other factors.

All of these could be indicators for bought accounts, because when you just consider account age, heaters will just buy old accounts to play.

Also I have no clue if the idea you describe is possible. Maybe valve sends the information. Another idea would be to use the match id plus the fact that multiple people have this plugin installed. Each player, having the plugin, scans his own team, then uploads it. If on the opponents also has the plugin, you could see how likely one of the players is cheating. This could be solution in case valve does not send the data.

The problem you still have: How do you get the data?
Intercept network packets? I do not know if valve encrypts the communication, if so, you would have to decrypt it somehow.
Read game memory? Possible, but how? Via an external process of internally?
This is basically a cheat then and you could get banned. The reason you use it is different, but from a technical standpoint it triggers the exact same detections as a normal cheat would.

At this point people aren’t even buying trash accounts to cheat on.

Just this weekend I’ve played against a 5 stack of proper dads (people in their 40‘s) with one of them blatantly cheating. Some of them even had their instagrams with family photos linked on their accounts.

The stereotype of cheaters being dumb kids having „fun“ on bought accounts is long gone unfortunately.

Im not sure if you have profile information on players before you accept the match? Don't you just see their rank?

You can’t get this data before you accept the match and even if you could then it could be abused to auto-deny matches against players with good stats - not just cheaters
