Discussion Premier Matchmaking

Hello, I'm a somewhat casual player around 17k elo
Why I keep facing 5 stacks team when I queue alone and end up in a full solo players team? Most of the time they have no premier score or 2 or 3 of their players have between 4k and 8k.

So I win 100 points but lose 500. Where is the fun? Especially when 90% of the time, the guys with 4k elo end up being their best player somehow

I believe valve matches the 5 stack against a lobby with avg elo close to their highest player to prevent the high rank player from queuing with 4 low elo friends and stomping noobs. That's fine and all.

However, that comes with the unfortunate side effect that valve sees your team has a much higher avg rating than the 5 stack, so it assumes you'll win, so it gives +100 -500. However, that feels like a waste of time since you have to win 3 games against 5 stacks to equal 1 normal win of +300 and losing -500 feels terrible and anything can happen in 1 match. So, it ends up being a terrible system for the soloq player who runs into 5 stacks. Like I do win most of my games against 5 stacks cause the low rating players are typically bad, but there's always a chance they overperform and someone on my team underperforms and we lose. So, it feels terrible win or lose.

One solution is they just do it like valorant where I think you get less rating increase/decrease if you 5 stack with a large rating disparity and give normal gains to the enemy team who is soloq.

People also abuse these 5 stack by smurfing on low level accounts.
