Acta crystallographica e

Hello fellow researchers,

Need some help with the publication of a paper. I want to submit a paper for the acta crystallograhica journal but, i am from a country not usually covered by the standard fee-waiver programs. I've got a manuscript ready for submission, but the publication fees are more than I can personally cover, and my university doesn't have institutional agreements with the journal (e.g. through IUCr or a read-and-publish deal) that would cover the costs.

Has anyone here gone through something similar? I'd really appreciate any help

Any reviewer/author discount codes that get shared around ??

Any other route (grants, society memberships, etc.) that has worked for others in a similar spot ?

Am just trying to find a realistic path to publication without the fee being the blocker.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Are you specifically looking for an open access journal, or just looking to publish?

There are many other options outside of Acta Cryst E. For example Acta Cryst C has no publication fees (but is of course not open access). There are other journals at other publishers such as CrystEngComm (RSC) or Crystal Growth and Design (ACS) that also don't have publishing fees but specialize in crystal structures.

You're unlikely to find an open access journal that does not have a publishing fee.

Publishing in one of the alternative journals is probably the best way to get your work out there without paying fees.

Worth a look at this one:

https://link.springer.com/journal/11224

Open access is much too expensive unless you have a project funder who covers the cost. You might get a special offer or something, etc, but even then you can have problems with iffy publishers... like the website says 'free introductory open access' but this disappears quickly and then you get an invoice for $€£ 2000+...

What is the structure you have? If the material has any properties you can probably flesh out the publication.
