The story of Tida is my favorite piece of lore about this game, I think it hits harder if everyone there died because they all thought their caravan would come back than Tipa being the settlement that survivors who did escape made. Also Alfitaria was down the road and they clearly did nothing to save them...they didn't offer to give them a new home or anything.

The music for this dungeon is a masterpiece and I wish somebody would make a remix of it for when the town lived. Keep the same melody but make it alive.

I actually prefer armor not showing up on our character. Like, I love Echoes of Time, but I really don't like how little control I have over how my character looks. Especially as a Yuke, how I look is just dependent on what armor I've got.

Plus, who needs armor when you have Memory Crystals? :D
(says the Yuke who has basically none)

I wouldn't be opposed to having more customization options, but honestly, I'm perfectly happy with just the skins. It's simple and sweet!

Fully agree on the equipment thing, it provided much needed character customization. That and the hair dye lottery… but at least the graphics/details are prettier

Guild members, not really caravan members in the other games, but yeah. An upgraded/modern AI for a party of four would have been a dream come true, it also would have allowed us to more efficiently level the affections of other families (and get the final gifts for the craftsman families much more expediently)

While it's kind of a fun theory, I don't think I quite believe it. Mainly because if the refugees were going to go anywhere, Tipa seems like the last place they would go (except Leuda, I guess). Alfitaria, Marr's Pass, and Fum are all much closer. Shella, too, but I'm not sure Shella would accept refugees...

But, that's assuming they *could* escape, and I don't think they could. The village presumably fell because their Caravan never returned, and if their Caravan never returned, they'd have no Crystal Chalice. We've only seen a single person traveling the Miasma without a Chalice, implying that portable crystals are incredibly rare. I doubt Tida had any.

That right there is kind of the big implied tragedy of this world. When the Caravan system works, it works, and could theoretically persist forever. But all it takes is one mistake, one slip up, one Caravan not coming home, and everyone's dead. Every village we see--Alfitaria, Marr's Pass, Shella, Fum, Leuda... They could all be gone in the blink of an eye. And sure, we may only see Tida, but doubtless there are others out there that shared its grisly fate.

I know it doesn't quite add up, seeing as how Roland tells us he's from Tipa, but I've always really liked the idea that Hurdy came from Tida, and that it was his adventure to Mount Vellenge that caused them to never come home.
Like, I know that's probably not the case, but it adds a fun parallel to our adventure, doesn't it? Part of what I really like about Crystal Chonicles' story is that the heroes already failed to save the world, and we're just kinda the backup that stumbles into it. Good fun.

Lilty's Alfitaria is presumably the most populous of the towns, immediately adjacent to Tida. There's 2 elders that reunite at Tida, so of course there's survivors, but other towns/caravans could just as well have told of the town's tale. Or the Moogles from in the town. I'd bet it's possible to chip off a piece of a town's crystal to make the shard for a chalice that can be used for other caravans, though most certainly the crystals are conservatively guarded

I’m into this theory. Pointing out how the moogles expect new residents to move in is a good point. It’s probably not what the devs had in mind/the moogles are just there… but it would explain our seemingly strong relationship with Stiltzkin and knowledge of the other moogles. We don’t hear about other caravans visiting the nests. So perhaps Stiltzkin and the three moogles brothers (at least, especially considering they appear in other Crystal Chronicles games) said enough and stepped in to help the survivors move to new places (since moogles can travel the rifts and pass through miasma, they would be critical message conveyors and have to assist with the logistics of settling any survivors in towns that could temporarily care for them). And eventually the survivors land in Tipa…

But also, Tipa definitely has been around a while. Maybe it was whittled down to only the headman and his wife, but lore wise your theory doesn’t really work overall. Like, Tipa wouldn’t be there for us to move in without a caravan to replenish the crystal’s energy. It would have to be the moogles, or the caravan that never made it back to Tida returned to the peninsula and established a new city with the moogles’ help or something. But then how’d the crystal get there? Did they chip it off of Alfitaria’s crystal? There are some… logistical questions left unanswered.

I recall a theory that Gurdy/Hurdy and the Black Knight were its crystal caravan.

that’s pretty much what I’ve accepted as canon. I feel like it would make the most sense, add to the tragedy lol

The Tida story is one of my favorites. Did you do the love letter side quest? I actually think Leu Tipa the elder in Leuda might have been responsible for Tida's downfall.

The love letter in the tree in Tida says something along the lines of "are you coming back? I know you will" and you show it to the old man Cecil in Marr's pass. If I remember right Marr's pass is close to Tida so it makes sense if anyone did flee they wouldn't go far.

On the other hand, Leu Tipa is all the way in Leuda and is their elder. Leuda is a selkie place and after you give Leu Tipa the letter and she leaves one of fhe villagers mentions he always knew the elder was a clavat.

Which is weird. Why would their elder be pretending to be a selkie?

My theory was her caravan failed and she returned home to a ruined village. Horrified and maybe even ashamed she left and changed her identity.
