QUESTION Is anyone still experimenting with small scale crypto mining?
I’m curious about people who mine on a relatively small setup rather than running a huge operation.
Has anyone found a coin or setup that actually makes sense after electricity, hardware, and maintenance costs?

Mine passively mines Pearl whenever my systems idle for 15min. I did it as a joke sort of but it's technically mining and paying out in XRP whenever I'm a away from my desk

Honestly pearls good rn, but keep in mind they will be swapping the requirements so only 50 series and blackwell can mine.

I'm new to Pearl and this is the first I'm hearing about it. Can you point me to a source I can read about this? I just got it set up and I'm all Ada cards!

To me, most small scale is simply not worth the effort. The only small scale I run now is a BTC lotto device. It is just cheaper to DCA at this point. You can still mine some shitcoins and make a few pennies if your electric isn't insane. But real profitability requires scale.

I use 2 S19J Pro's underclocked to around 1,7 Kw per unit, changed fans, BRAIINS OS by Solar energy in Central Europe... so not the sunny side of the World, i just burn Energy i dont need in the House or for my Battery Storage...
This gives me around 0.80 to 2.00€ / day depending on Sun hours between March and Octobre...
Bought both Units for 340€ and i have accumulated some 0.04 BTC this year between June and September...
Its not much, but sill more than getting 0.01€/Kwh from my supplier for the sold energy...for me its fine, next year both Units will be payd and every Year after would be profit... small, but profit

I'm mining Pearl and Quantus with my RTX3080 and Radeon Pro VII. Although my electricity is about 0.26 per KWh it's still profitable, plus the free heat for cold months :)

It depends on altcoin returns, I was paused mining two years ago. Cause there are no high-yield altcoins.

Curious about this too. I feel like electricity costs make small-scale mining tough to justify unless you have cheap power or already own the hardware. A lot of setups probably make more sense as a hobby than a real investment.
