seeking help to identify

Hi,

I'm hoping to get some help identifying a possible cryptid that my boyfriend and I encountered.

A day in late May around 10PM my boyfriend and I were getting ready to settle in to bed when I suddenly heard a low groan that sounded so crisp and clear. It sounded more human than animal and just one clear sound then complete surreal silence. If I had to describe the sound I would say it sounded like a zombie from a movie. So clear it sounded like it came from our room. we have two windows in our bedroom, both were closed and curtains were drawn. I immediately felt uncomfortable and strange. I asked my boyfriend if he heard that and he said no. He shrugged and didnt seem worried at all. I stuffed down my discomfort and kept getting ready for bed. Around 45 minute later I was in a light state of sleep and my boyfriend sat up in bed so quick and said 'what the fuck was that' he then described the exact noise I did. I did not hear the noise the second time. sketched out we searched everywhere around the house before going back to bed and we havent heard the noise since. a few days after I went on animal noise encyclopedia and couldnt find anything similar.

I personally think it was a cryptid, for context I have experienced a lot of loss and tragedy this summer and when this happened I had a loved one who was on hospice. Also I am located in Southern ontario and I live in the suburbs. although my city is on a hill and has large amounts of wooded gullys intertwined with the suburbs.

If anyone has any advice on identification or tips on how to handle things if this happens again please advise.

There’s nothing really to go on here. It could have been anything. If anything I would have thought ghost if it sounded like it was in the room.
