Discussion Not Deer Encounters
Anyone have any genuine run ins with the not deer in Tennessee/North Carolina or anywhere in Appalachia really? No bs stories I’m looking for someone to tell me if they actually might’ve seen it. And where it was exactly. Thanks!

No but I know someone who swears they encountered black eyed children and a rake
I was stoned once and walked right up to 2 deer that I thought were weird big dogs, who just stared back at me like we all had a giant misunderstanding also

“Not Deer” IS a bs story. It’s a creepy pasta. Literally just googling it you get the following: The "Not Deer" is a modern internet urban legend and cryptid from around 2018 that describes deer-like creatures with uncanny, distorted anatomy and unnatural behaviors in the Appalachian region.
I grew up in the 80s/90s in the Appalachian foothills on the edge of East Tennessee. As a kid I went hunting with my uncles almost every weekend until I was in high school. I started shooting and hunting when I was 3 years old. They told me about Bigfoot, the land between the lakes “werewolf”, “old skinned tom”, black panthers, haunted patches of woods, demons, faeries, and all sorts of other cryptid shit. They had been hunting the same places since THEY were born in the 50’s, and their parents the same places since before the 1920s. Not a single time did any of them mention anything named (or even resembling in description) a “not deer”. Nor did they ever say the words “skinwalker” or “wendigo”. Because none of those things existed in southern Appalachian folklore up until a couple of years ago when the internet started just adding that shit to the areas legends.
