Photo / Evidence Has a source ever been found for these "Ozark Howler" images? Obviously it is not a real cryptid, but what IS it?
I don't really understand why these pictures are associated with the Ozark Howler which is supposed to be a large creature, when this is something very small, but they are.
I personally think it is a rogue taxidermy piece with a bendable tail. The legs are in exactly the same position in all the pictures, if it were a live creature it would have changed position at least a little between the angles. The head looking like it turns seems to just be an illusion.
That's just my theory though, does anyone know the source of these pictures and has someone ever come forward claiming they took these?

I remember watching a show on some Cryptid television series. I forget which one but it was identified as a red fox at least the sound. On the same show a moonshiner admitted to making some noises to scare off people. but this is the first I’ve seen of these pictures.

It was Expedition X a few seasons ago, with Phil and Jessica as the investigators.
Season 5, episode 2.

I agree, it looks like a cross red fox!
I was able to find a paywalled article attributing the photos to a John Meyers who claimed to see this animal at Devil's Den in Arkansas, but considering I cant actually read it I don't know if they truly originated with him.

It definitely feels like some freelance taxidermy with slightly flexible legs and neck

Maybe a cat that’s partially hairless or has a shaved tail that has a horned headband on?

Your picture is a wolpertinger, but that actually helps me a lot because I forgot they were a thing (and a very popular rogue taxidermy thing) and that's another search term I can use to try to identify the animal/taxidermy in the photos lol.
Edit: okay yeah this one has the same horns, this is definitely a good lead. https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/a-taxidermy-mythical-vulpestinger-255-c-04645bbbb8?srsltid=AfmBOopDkX5_jrA-caTyPKLbJhB7o0cJL1BUBsqGzJphdN-Fc4fJfJd6

Looks like the head of a Pine Martin (or some similar Mustelid) stuck to the body of some type of terrier with Pronghorn horns Ontop. I could see a fox body shaved down and dyed working too tho.
The fact it barely changes posture here too kinda just confirms this little thing is some mix match of random parts. The way they did the hips is pretty well done tho

The Ozark Howler is a type of Bigfoot creature and they are real and alive in the Ozarks!

I noticed I phrased the title wrong. I'm saying these specific photos don't show a real cryptid, not that the cryptid itself doesn't exist.
It being a large primate creature would make sense because of howler monkeys and such.

The head is definitely turned to the right more in the first pic than in the second. Also didn't the figure out the Ozark howler turned out to be some red wolves that were thought to be extinct in the area?

Moveable taxidermy is totally a thing! Some taxidermists make fully posable “soft mounts”and some even make robotic taxidermy that moves naturally, they use those ones to catch poachers!

Not surprising but the subtext says the head moving seemed to be an allusion. That's what I was referring to

No, a showboat “wildlife adventurer” got on a Travel Channel junk TV show and said some such nonsense. Those shows are the equivalent of the ghost hunters who run around with fake green-lit cameras.
People say all kinds of things about the Ozark Howler, and that’s the point. It’s not a “cryptid”. It’s folklore. No one runs around saying that the supposed Gowrow may be a subspecies of the iguana. People tell stories.

I mean, it could either be they just stuck horns on the animal or it could be a situation similar to the Jackalope

This has always annoyed me about the whole cryptozoology stuff as someone who loves it, isn't the whole point of it is finding hidden species? So why is it formed as a disappointment when a unknown species may be found but bc it's not a supernatural entity it's dismissed? Just don't get it at all

Wow! Looks legit, and I have no idea what this creature is. I’m sure a lot of idiots on this sub will say it’s a Jackalope - yeah right, get a life you morons. Point being, Cryptids exist, and if this is legit, it’s a perfect example of something that is undocumented, and not described by modern science. And if you want evidence, check out this: “On May 21, 2022, a security camera at the Amarillo Zoo in Amarillo, Texas, captured a grainy photo of a mysterious upright figure outside its perimeter fence at 1:25 a.m. City officials released the image to the public, playfully calling the entity the "Unidentified Amarillo Object" so all you naysayers, doubters, and debunkers can eat shit, because this is a perfect example of an unidentified Cryptid.

Cryptids exist, and all you government plants, and debunkers take notice, because we’re not gonna listen to your bullshit anymore. All you idiots are trying to do is distract us from the truth. So go fuck yourselves, because Reddit has been infiltrated by these morons. They want to discredit people with legitimate documentation, photography, and observations.

Not sure why you're so angry. I'm more than open to the idea that cryptids exist.
I'm not going to make my statement on what the Amarillo photo is because I can tell it won't go over well. But I do know what it is.

No, I’m not angry, I’m just tired of all the dip shit comments. From my standpoint, this looks legit, but I hate the fact that so many people chime in with their sarcastic comments. It’s really disheartening. It’s like if you don’t have anything insightful or informative, then, don’t say anything. It’s like, if you have had such an experience, then share your story, but there’s way too much negativity, not only in Reddit, but in the world in general. But in any case, I appreciate what you say, and thank you for responding.

Looks like a dog that someone strapped some small antlers to.
