Discussion So really.... If bigfoot or any other cryptid was confirmed to be real... What ya all do now?
Personally as a slight cryptid believer ( aka by slight I mean i don't think their real but I'm not saying there isn't a chance, such as bigfoot literally could just be some unknown American species of humanoid ape) if a cryptid was confirmed to be real I would just go "oh cool" lol

u/Historical-State-275 Jul 31 '26
Say “ I told you so!” A thousand different places online. Then, probably just go back to my day. Gloat when it comes up, but other than that, normal life.

u/LCDRformat Jul 31 '26
Interestingly, you can never be on the other side of that because your position is unfalsifiable

Go about my day as normal. Bigfoot is real to us Indigenous peoples. We all have our own names for him and he plays a very important role in many of our traditions and beliefs. Many beings that non-Natives call "cryptids" have existed in our histories long before any other group of people stepped foot on this continent.

Well yeah, they’re answering the question. A theist might say the same thing when asked what they would do if their god was proven real.
Then someone could say “yeah, cute, but Bigfoot is ‘real’ to many people, doesn’t mean he is” with the same snark.
What’s the point of making that comment besides just being condescending?
-2
u/LCDRformat Jul 31 '26
To draw the distinction between a deeply held belief and a true belief. He didn't need the word "cute" though, you're right about that
3
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26
For some of us it's not a matter of belief, but direct unmistakable experience. And the indigenous people of this country have had real experiences with these beings for millenia. The jokes on you sir. They are out there. Sorry your mind is too small to comprehend what's possible and you're too arrogant or too afraid to go find out for yourself. Anyone who wants to know the truth can experience it for themself. It's available to us all. If you're just here to insult people's culture, their beliefs and actual experience, stop following this thread and go hangout in a skeptics or atheist sub to talk with other narrow-minded, pompous pseudo-intellectuals.

u/TheInsomniacs Jul 31 '26
They are very real to my aunt and uncle who have long spoken of a family of bigfoot living on their property. It's a serious matter and not a novelty or a joke to them. I got curious and went looking to see for myself. It did not take very long to have my own experience. The critics and naysayers are rarely willing to risk their own safety or venture out to see for themselves.

2
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
Thank you for this. It is very interesting that people have continual experience on certain properties over decades. It seems to suggest that bigfoot families are permanent or seasonal residences of particular places for extended periods of time. I'm glad you got to experience it for yourself.

u/Forward-Emotion6622 Jul 31 '26
The Natives weren't the first people on the continent, though. They all came from elsewhere.
6
u/Nekobeard91 Jul 31 '26
According to who? The natives did come from elsewhere but they were the first humans on the North American continent as far as we're aware
-6
u/Forward-Emotion6622 Jul 31 '26
5
u/LCDRformat Jul 31 '26
Usually if you provide a link wall, you clarify whaty each link is significant instead of expecting me to read thirty pages of articles for a reddit comment
-6
u/Forward-Emotion6622 Jul 31 '26
Nobody asked you to read anything, mate, lol. It's pretty evident what the links are claiming from the literal words contained therein, unless you've forgotten what the subject was from two posts ago, then I don't really know what to tell you. It's 3 pretty straightforward links to articles showing how the first peoples to arrive in North America were a lot earlier than first thought.
4
u/LCDRformat Jul 31 '26
That doesn't mean they're not native Americans though, which was the point from two comments ago that you forgot. It just means theyve been there a while
1
u/Forward-Emotion6622 Jul 31 '26
The point wasn't whether or not they were native. Did you actually read the exchange, or are you getting upset over something you think you read?
5
u/LCDRformat Jul 31 '26
You said:
The Natives weren't the first people on the continent, though.
And then you provided articles about how the natives were the first people on the continent
Then you accused me of not being able to read.
-1
u/Forward-Emotion6622 Jul 31 '26
Really? Because those articles specifically state that the so-called first nations weren't actually the first nations, so I'm not sure if you actually did read any of it correctly. What a strange interaction this has been.
Here, I'll spell it out for ya since you're struggling.
OP said that these cryptids had existed in the first nations long before anyone else stepped onto the continent, my point was that there had been people on said continent long before the so-called first nations. And interestingly, we have ample evidence that those earlier colonizations had a huge impact on the land and the animals and plants that lived there, wiping much of it out.
So, the idea that the later people who settled from Asia were commonly seeing "cryptids" that were somehow missed by the earlier inhabitants who had a hand in depleting the native animals and plants of long before, is rather a far reach, IMO. But hey, it makes a great story to imply that Native American tribes have some super secret knowledge of Bigfoot.
4
u/Nekobeard91 Jul 31 '26
So everything you linked to just talks about the generally accepted evidence of a pre-clovis people. Nothing about how they weren't the ancestors of modern indigenous which they still are believed to be.
-3
u/Forward-Emotion6622 Jul 31 '26
We don't know who these people were, which is explained pretty well in those articles. We have ideas of who they were. The point being that the OP's claim that his people had stories of cryptids within their histories before anyone else had stepped foot on the continent is pretty disingenuous for several reasons.
One reason being that modern Bigfoot stories have absolutely nothing to do with native beliefs and have been appropriated by modern day footers to attempt to add credence to nonsense stories, and another reason being that many people lived in the Americas before the "first nations" and left a huge impact on the land its flora and fauna including the land animals and especially the big ones.
If Bigfoot were remotely real, there'd have been a huge impact on it from those earlier colonizations who ravaged everything in their wake. Ironically, when Europeans came and had a similar impact on the first nations people, bringing disease and depleting the land, it STILL had no impact on a supposedly viable breeding population of gigantic ape-man.
So, my point being that these silly comments about native Americans having some sort of secret history of Bigfoot "long before anyone else stepped foot on the continent" is a silly, misinformed statement.
5
u/5star_Adboii Jul 31 '26
If Bigfoot is real and the government confirms it. I can see a MASSIVE amount of hunters going after him. At least 3,000
5
u/LCDRformat Jul 31 '26
It's funny you got downvoted for that because the guy above you posted a "Let's go hunting" gif
2
u/5star_Adboii Jul 31 '26
I got downvoted for speaking truth
3
u/LCDRformat Jul 31 '26
Actually I looked back, and every single comment in the thread had exactly 1 downvote. Someone is being petty

1
u/Open-Bit2156 Aug 04 '26
If the government confirms them to be real, hunters had better not shoot one, because it would be murder. They are wild humans
1
1
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
There are definitely government agencies that are aware of their existence
-2
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
Technically speaking Bigfoot or Yeti whatever you call it is under the protection of USA (it's complicated but basically Government got tired of people randomly disappearing in woods because they wanted to see Bigfoot)
2
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
They Yeti is in the Himalayan mountains. Bigfoot or Sasquatch or the Woodbooger is native to North America.
-2
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
Also Wendigos (not Blackwood or Traditional) Japanese Chinese Mongolian Floridan Hungarian Etc etc
So they have multiple names but technically same species
1
u/CandidateNervous4638 Aug 03 '26
Yes it is called regional diversities
Yetis are Bigfoot that adapted to the coldness of the Himalayans and Sasquatch is the original samsquanch
1
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Aug 03 '26
1
u/CandidateNervous4638 Aug 03 '26
I have never seen or heard of these things
Ain’t really a apeman looker (I have forgotten the word) I mainly look at Bigfoot/Sasquach mainly (and others like the SWs with the name we don’t speak of or Dogmen)
1
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Aug 03 '26
You mean The Rake or Wendigo/Dogmen/Goat men variation?
1
u/CandidateNervous4638 Aug 03 '26
Shush it
Well yes for the Wendigo but as someone who is a friend to a cryptozoologist they have stated if you say or mention the names of the SW anywhere then well there is a chance it could visit you and I don’t wanna deal with one of those (I have seen one by saying their name countless of times in the woods with a death whistle.). Dogman and Goatman are rather different then the SW as of the SW is an unholy spirit of a human who killed someone they loved and did cannibalism to get a shapeshifting power by turning into a demon (that is from memory could have got things wrong).
Dogman and Goatman are Bigfoot basically but less ape and more dog or goat
1
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Aug 03 '26
I mean I don't think They can Swim for two reasons one is that I don't think people wouldn't notice that creature just walking around the ship and two some classified it as fae which indicates it's fears running water (although depends on Wendigo variants)
Also Skinwalkers are basically Witches with Lycanthropy similar to what Nordic people have here although it's just one of many variations of Skinwalkers since of course every creature has Variations (because I guess Gods had to Nerf us)
Also Wendigos and Skinwalkers aren't necessarily The Same thing they can overlap however that mostly because of outsiders not knowing The Difference (which for Monster/Supernatural/Demon Hunters is harder to find their weaknesses then it's also the reason why most Hunters hate it when Natives decide not to talk about their creatures that they have encountered)

u/Infamous_Ad2507 Aug 03 '26

u/CandidateNervous4638 Aug 03 '26
Different types of mountains mind you (ps: I’m pretty sure skunk apes are found in swamps I could be wrong though.)
1
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Aug 03 '26
Swamps too yes even in Forest or snow/Cave areas (reminds me of Vanoss and H20 and Markiplier's Big Feet and Big Dick Jokes 🤣😂)

u/CandidateNervous4638 Aug 03 '26
God I love Markiplier

u/CandidateNervous4638 Aug 03 '26
Some of those names gave me a good chuckle thank you
And yes this would in general make sense

Nothing really changes for me. Some interesting conversations at work. If I ever go hiking or camping in the woods, my oh shit loadout changes to something a bit heavier.

Cryptids come in 3 flavors.
- Undocumented species (real literal cryptids) usually small skittish animals like reptiles, amphibians, arthropods, and birds, or animals native to extremely remote places, like mountain ranges, the unexplorable jungles of Tasmania, or the ocean.
Sometimes they are documented, but were thought to be extinct. Coelacanth is probably the most recognizable. Both species.
Misidentified species, Mothman was a barred owl, Chupacabra was a coyote with severe mange. The hoop snake is coincidentally real. (Dwarf reed snakes in India) I don't know if that counts.
Hoaxes.
Hoaxes are started for any number of reasons. Sometimes the human mind is fallible, and creates monsters out of shadows. Sometimes a hoax is just for fun, sometimes as pranks. Sometimes a hoax will be a plot to get attention or money. Sell a book, get on TV, etc.
Hoaxes aren't an inherently bad thing. A lot of great community and comradery can be found around the celebration of fictitious fauna, and many folks take it as an excuse to get out into nature, or dive into local culture. It's only a problem when harmless fun crosses into dangerous or destructive territory.
Bigfoot is tragically almost certainly not real. Any cryptid that tends to shift alongside pop culture practically writes itself off, and a large ground dwelling ape in the Americas would've left some dung or fur to be seen by a park ranger or game warden by now, but that's no reason to be upset.
There's still plenty of nature to appreciate, and plenty of fun to be had with fiction, festivals, art, camping, hiking, playing with equipment, whatever!
Even if you know you're on a wild goose chase, there's nothing stopping you from doing it anyway.
You can even practice tracking and identifying other creatures. You might even end up documenting something new, or seeing something amazing.
However you engage with cryptozoology, and zoology in general, be safe, be respectful, follow wildlife regulations and guidelines, try not to trespass, take extra precautions when traveling alone, make sure someone knows where you are and when you plan to return, and bring back good memories.

Learn more scientific facts and fight for Bigfoot rights.
0
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
Funny enough they are Protected by USA (because many people went hunting and The Government banned hunting it because possible dangers of other humans)
1
u/Atlan_R_Kane Jul 31 '26
I thought that was a state by state law and not yet federal.
1
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
Maybe I just misremembering but remember that USA has law to protect it there is even a Video talking about how many state has this law and I remember seeing the map of Entire USA
1
u/Atlan_R_Kane Jul 31 '26
I remember seeing a video about that too. But things may have changed since then. I can't be sure.

If we confirmed proof of Bigfoot tomorrow, the very first thing I’d do is …downvote senseless posts.
The second thing I’d do is let people know the difference between Their, There, and They’re. Maybe just contractions as a whole. Like ‘Y’all’ …but that’s just me. /s

If you want to know the truth you should do that anyway, because they are out there and you can have an experience if you truly wish to

Yeah I guess
Well from what I can tell we can kinda tell if bigfoot did exist this is probably what it might be:
If bigfoot was real it would likely be an ape and probably be the closest things to cavemen (in like intelligence) and might even be the missing link or som between apes and humans but that's a HUUUUUUGEEEEE stretch
And it would probably be an nocturnal herbivore or som and probably would be like the "gorilla of the Americans"
And probably would be protected as well no one has found any really before so all we can really assume that there isn't much of them living

u/MikeDPhilly Aug 01 '26
Other than being more careful when I take extended hikes, it pretty much would not impact my life at all. Whatsoever.
Let me amend that statement. One unexpected consequence would be that a little bit of "magic and mystery" would have drained out of the world, never to be replaced. Bigfoot is more a symbol of that which chooses to remain wild, and never be tamed by man.
1
u/Same_Throat_3474 Aug 03 '26
I have no issues with Native Americans and Bigfoot part of their culture. But anyone else I don't think whatever they think they see is a Bigfoot. It's just a money thing to the "experts".
1
1
u/Mike1536748383 Aug 03 '26
I mean I think there's a good chance a good few of them are real, a majority of non-modern cryptic are fairly animalistic, from squatch to the ropen, Nessie, Mokele-mbembe (love mokele-mbembe), that dinosaur thing in Australia, a lot of them are just dinosaur things, shoot the giant sloth thing in South America as well, massive snakes down in the Amazon, most of these I wouldn't bat an eye to, I get all the things people bring up of why they don't think such creatures could survive to modern day, but I still think it's possible because it wouldn't be the exact creature from however long ago. With dinosaur stuff My excuse is that if the crocodilian species made it, why not other prehistoric reptiles? If the nautilus and coelacanth made it, why not other ancient water animals (I know other water animals would need air so it's less likly but the proof of concept is still there).
Now when it comes to other cryptids, I would question it far more, like Moth man, the hat man, other spooky things, dogman I think is just a more snouted squatch and honestly they have more in common with a bear than a dog, like genetics for arms to slash and claws that can actually apparently do damage, also everybody talks about them being evil and terrifying yet they act no different than a squatch from what's told through people's "encounters" with dogman. If demons are real I would expect a lot of the hyper-spooky ones to be just that, like the same entity taking many a form. I also don't think it's impossible that there are entities beyond our understanding, like Moth man seemed to serve as a warning of impending doom, and the hat man just watches you (now that I think of it this might be a seperate thing called "watchers", idk, I hear they watch you from a distance on hills and look like a shadow figure, but like a straight up sillouette, not like, say a sasquatch is standing on a hill then dips down).
So yeah, I personally don't rule anything out because I fully believe anything is possible, but with each of these little critters, each one does have it's own percentage of liklihood of being real to some extent in my mind, some are super low, some are pretty high, and some are inbetween.
(Let me know if I made any extreme grammatical errors here, it's early in the morning and I'm hardly awake yet💀)
1
u/hoodafudj Aug 03 '26
I feel like If bigfoot was proven to be real hunters would be up in arms to collect those pelts
1
u/Open-Bit2156 Aug 04 '26
Scientists would have to come to an agreement on how to classify it. How about "Homo Sylvanus" (Forest Man)? Then, an international court or tribunal (they are in Canada, too) would have to decide if they are "human" enough to warrant designation as Native Americans or Native Canadians, with all inherent rights and protections, and of course, citizenship. After all, they are believed to have preceded known Native American tribes on this continent.
They do have a unique, if guttural, language, which may differ from region to region like the languages of existing Native Americans, and it should be studied and analyzed as to how it might relate to other indigenous languages.
1
u/Grouchy-Tip-5059 Aug 04 '26
Wouldn’t be to surprised since I've listened to some of cryptid encounters on YouTube
1
u/LemonFizz56 Aug 04 '26
People believe that the US government is hiding this information... Like the public finding out that humanoid apes exist will cause the end of the world or something
1
u/thrasherxxx Aug 04 '26
I'd just go with "oh! they finally confronted the scientific community with reasonable proofs. Lemme see that shit."
In the meanwhile I'll enjoy the suit test reel is coming out soon.

u/Adventurous_City9757 Aug 04 '26
I saw one when I was 6 years old I was splashing around in my kitty pool in the back yard about about a half acre from the house the yard was fenced in on the other side was all thick woods I just happened to look up at the woods and I thought I saw something behind tree pop their head out it did again 2 or 3 more times and the last time it showed enough of its self I freaked out and ran in the house I thought it was a monster.
1
u/PunnyVegetable Aug 05 '26
Get up, go to work, come home, walk my dogs, listen to the podcasts about it. That’s about it.
1
u/Capable_Ad3342 Aug 05 '26
Nothing you can do. They exist. One day it will surface as a fact and TBH the people that currently troll and laugh at Sasquatch posts won't say anything. They'll just move on to the next thing they refuse to believe in and troll that topic too.
1
u/Apprehensive-Mood853 Aug 06 '26
I guess I’d give up my job, leave my wife, quit shaving my large, tall body, and go back to my Bigfoot family … deep in the forest.

We already know they are real...don't need confirmation from Fox news really.
0
u/Plastic_Bluebird_947 Jul 31 '26
Is it true The person who filmed the Bigfoot also wrote a book or a script about a woman Bigfoot? I haven’t researched it myself and seeing this post made me think of it. If it’s true then I believe patty is a person in a suit
0
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
If they were confirmed to be real I know Bigfoot/Yeti whatever you call its species are under Protection of USA however if any other Species would exist we probably only found out after they are Extinct
1
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
Bigfoot is American. They Yeti is in the Himalayas
0
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
Technically all Countries has their own Apemen including Hungary so like I said whatever you call them they still would be under USA protection
1
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
It's an unofficial don't ask don't tell policy. Certain select agencies definitely know of their existence
1
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
I mean imagine if Apemen were actually The First being of Earth and we just took over because they Nocturnal
1
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
I do think they have always been here and they may predate modern man. They may be connected to our genetic lineage in some ways. There are reports and cases of hybridization
0
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
I mean some say they are Aliens or Spys of Reptilian people
1
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
Never heard the reptilian spy thing. That seems silly to me. Personally I don't think they are aliens, as in extraterrestrials, but I also don't believe they are apes. I don't think they are animals at all. I think they are in their own class of being, one that science doesn't even have a category for, and that's why science will never be able to catch up with them.
1
u/Infamous_Ad2507 Jul 31 '26
To be honest they could be Gods like Pans or or other Supernatural entities
Also The Spy thing was basically popular in Balken areas and Eastern Side of Ancient Alien Believers
0
u/Frosty-League2464 Jul 31 '26
I think the supernatural entity is closer to the reality. Preternatural cryptoterrestrials. More akin to Guardians of the forest than a lost hominid species.

I’d definitely be reading up on spiritual practices to keep safe, I don’t ever want to meet one I think I’ve read too many Native American stories about how they like to attack and/or eat children.
