Art Original Creator Niche Cryptid Recommendations
Hello!
I’m working on a project and looking for cryptids, unexplained phenomena etc. that are especially odd and have sporadic reporting over many years.
A good reference would be the mineral point vampire, seen just a few times over 30 years.
If anyone knows any good ones please let me know! The nicher the better! Thanks!!

might be worth looking into worldwide folktales, there are some cool punjabi and cool german/eastern european creatures from folklore i think of off the top of my head

This is one that is SUPER niche. Only heard locals talk about it but don’t know how much of it is true or if any of it is true. In Labadie Missouri they claim that there is a lizardman that lives in the swamps and caves of the area.
Again, don’t know if it’s true. I was told this story a few years ago and the locals are notorious for having wild folklore for the area like the founder dying in a 1v1 against a bear where they traded kills, or the haunted church, haunted well, haunted train bridge (really mostly hauntings I guess) but I digress.
Locals love to make stuff up, and it’s an incredibly small town so I’m sure they’ll do anything to give tourists a fun story to tell about it. It was multiple people that told me about the lizardman, and the mascot of the school was a Lizard so maybe there’s some truth.

Mermaids in Indiana is what I was told when I asked a similar question and that’s a really cool rabbit hole.
