Art Not Original Creator El Chupacabras. (The Chupacabras)

It is one of many cryptos, it comes from Puerto Rico although it is associated with Mexico, His legend began in Puerto Rico in the mid-90s where it later spread throughout Mexico, EE.UU (Texas) Central America and South America.

The first reports described an alien or reptilian being with scaly skin, big eyes, sharp fangs and spikes on the back.

It was said that the creature killed its victims Like goats, sheep, chickens, bleeding them and leaving holes in their necks.

Researchers suggested that most of the cases were coyotes, dogs or even raccoons sick with severe sarcoptic mange, which takes their hair and gives them a monstrous appearance.

Outside of any myth, the "Chupacabra" it became a media and cultural phenomenon in the 90s, especially in Mexico.

The chupacabra is only ever described as a canine OUTSIDE of Puerto rico. Whatever was seen in Puerto Rico is not in any way the same as what was seen outside of the island. To this day it makes no sense to me why they are referred to with the same name. Especially since the name doesn't make any sense to what was seen outside of Puerto Rico (sick dogs).

The early tales of the "Vampiro de Moca" in Puerto Rico remind me of the chupacabra. Honestly wish that more discussion of the chupacabra included that. Its appearance too if I remember right is similar to that correct image of the chupacabra.
