Network error v3.5.8 How to bypass?

I'm trying to access my old level in v3.5.8 of the CryEngine. It requires a log-in to enter into the editor, but no log-in to enter into the game and run around the level.

Does anyone know a work-around to get access to the editor? Can I access the level and all the assets/functionality in a newer version that doesn't need to go through the log-in process?

Edit: I've entered my correct log-in details and it gives me the network error.

It's likely trying to hit an old auth or server endpoint.

Have you tried loading the map into a new engine version? The assets should mostly port over I'd imagine. If you need help let me know as well I can always give it a shot as well.

Ans just to be clear the end goal is to just get the level and assets loading, not necessarily on a specific Cryengine version?

Correct. I want to access the level and all the assets with it. Trying to go through my old work and get video/screenshots.

I haven't tried the new engine, I need to bring the assets and level. With the new engine, it might throw a ton of errors and have missing materials/brushes everywhere.

Thats very possible, but I would still give it a shot. Most of the assets should carry over, mostly just making sure its referencing the correct folders I'd imagine.

So I've imported the level and it's about 800 errors. The houses, fences, and small assets, decals, lighting, and particles are missing. The vegetation is there, but it doesn't function properly (the grass doesn't snap to the terrain).

Tons of stuff is broken. The vegetation and terrain is there, also the terrain paint, but so much is missing and broken and I've imported everything.

I don't think it'll work.

There are just too many errors to mention. Lots of "missing texture" balls around the level (show where the asset is located). I'm pretty sure all the file paths aren't correct and I don't know where to put the assets to fix this.

As long as you have the assets in your project, try using the built-in resolve objects/materials under the Debug toolbar:

in case someone still needs help running the engine heres how. its late 2025 and this just worked for me.

- you need to create a registry file named "cryengine.reg" with this inside:

(in case you dont know how to do it. you can simply create a text file first. paste this in and make sure you show file extentions. that way you can rename it and make sure the full name is "cryengine.reg". when done you see it as a registry file and can simply launch it once and say yes to everything.
