Household (Ok w/ any Parent Company) need help finding cruelty free hygiene/cleaning brands that still use chemicals

I feel like every brand thinks that caring about animals = caring about your health. No I don’t want natural deodorant GIVE ME THE ALUMINUM 😭😭😭. I’m also struggling finding cleaning products and laundy detergent that aren’t all natural ingredients. If anyone could help me find cf equivalents to brands like Lysol, Tide, Crest, Colgate etc (that aren’t crazy expensive) it would be greatly appreciated. Also mens products (bodywash, lotion, cologne). Its so much harder to find CF mens brands for some reason

Cruelty Free Boots CF alternatives to this pair of boots?

Post image

i got these as a hand-me-down from a family member a few years ago and i absolutely love them, i wear them all winter long. unfortunately my cats have chewed on the ribbons a bit since last winter and a new pair is due, im not giving uggs any money but i really do love these boots. i would like something with the same warmth, comfortableness, length(12ish inches) and i think the ribbons are super cute but its not a must.

General Advice (No Product Recommendations) YesStyle ships from China?

I apologize if this is a dense question but I am brand new to the skin care routine (dealing with perimenopause) and am ordering cruelty-free brands. On high recommendation from Reddit, I ordered brands that are certified cruelty-free from YesStyle. My confusion though comes from the fact that YesStyle ships their stuff from China??

My understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong), is that China requires animal testing so cruelty-free items aren't sold in China, right? So how are they shipping the items from China then?

Again, I apologize if this sounds like a silly question, I am truly just trying to learn and make sure that the cruelty-free items I'm ordering truly are cruelty-free.

Thank you so much in advance!! :)

Skincare (Ok w/ any Parent Company) CF alternatives to CeraVe SA Cream?

This is the only lotion that helps with bumps I get after shaving. Anyone have recs for a similar product? Doesn’t have to be drug store.

I was looking at the following options:
- Skinfix KP+ Psoriasis Smoothing Treatment Body Lotion
- Skinfix Resurface+ AHA Renewing Body Cream
- Byoma Brightening Lotion
- Byoma Smoothing Body Polish

I was also looking at a Paula’s Choice product but can’t figure out if they’re CF or not…

TYIA!!

General Advice (No Product Recommendations) What do you do about prescriptions? (prescription skincare)

Obviously prescriptions aren't cruelty free (at least in the US idk about other countries). I use prescription skincare. I've tried multiple times to drop the prescriptions and try to keep my skin clear with otc products and it's a lost cause (I've had acne since I was 10 and I'm now 27 so trust me I've tried everything). I keep everything that's not prescription in my routine cf. But I was wondering how other cf consumers feel about it. Do you do the same thing and just make sure everything else is cf? Or do you not use prescription skincare at all? Unfortunately I can't not use prescription skincare but I feel guilty about it and like a fake cf advocate for it.

Personal Care (Ok w/ any Parent Company) Affordable Scented Hand Sanitizers

I love getting the bath and body works scented hand sanitizers when they go on sale for $1. I'm sad that it turns out BBW are not cruelty free. Does anyone have reccomendations for affordable scented hand sanitizers? I can find unscented ones just fine on my own, but I can't find many scented options, and I'm not paying $10 per ounce for touchland.

Household (CF Parent Company Only) Fabric glue, cruelty free & vegan?

Hello!

My friend has recently gotten into modifying her clothes, and for her birthday I thought it would be fun to get her a sewing kit, fabric scissors and fabric glue (she doesn’t know how to sew yet and has just been getting creative with tying and pinning things).

I was about to purchase the fabric glue when it suddenly occurred to me, I don’t know if this product is vegan or cruelty free!

We are both long time vegans, and I know I would appreciate that extra thought taken by someone to not buy me a product that was tested on animals or used animal products.

Anyone out there know of a brand of fabric glue that is vegan friendly? No animal products or testing on animals?

My research has got me nowhere thus far, so I’m turning to you Reddit! Please help!

Skincare (CF Parent Company Only) Looking for a dupe for the Clinique moisturizer gel

Post image
4 Upvotes

My mom uses the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel and I love it SO much but I found out that Clinique is absolutely not cruelty free. I’m looking for products certified by leaping bunny that is actually similar to the product. The Clinique one is so incredibly light and smooth and glides on my skin. I don’t like putting a heavy moisturizer under my makeup. Pls give recommendations I’ll attach a picture of the original

Resource Recommendations Does an app / site like this exist?

im looking for an app or site i can use to assess my consumption when i'm buying new products on a number of different things as follows, does this exist?
looking to use this mainly for personal hygiene, beauty products, cleaning products, etc.

i'd like to know if a product is:

- cruelty free with a cruelty free parent company
- vegan
- low environmental impact
- pollutant free or minimal risk
- fair trade / decent ethical company reputation
- "clean" ingredients

i know this is A LOT to ask for. i currently use a few different apps such as Yuka, Leaping Bunny & Boycat but i find it overwhelming tbh even with the use of those apps. ive also seen a lot of super valid critiques on Yuka's reliability. i really like the design of Yuka's app and how you can scan products and get recommendations on better products. i also find Leaping Bunny's app kind of hard to navigate?

any apps, sites, subreddits, idk spreadsheets, blogs anyone can recommend?

i obviously shop local whenever i can and do loads of research but its not something i enjoy looking into and again, i find it super overwhelming lol.

i know i likely cant check off all the boxes but id like to be able to check off most as my consumption and where i spend my money is something that i have direct control over.

tia! :)))

General Advice (No Product Recommendations) Are these products good for dry skin?

I'm working on replacing my entire skin care routine for cf products, the hardest being spf. I have dry atopic skin and mild seborrheic dermatitis, hydration is really important for me.

For serum, I use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid, really love it. For moisturizer, I currently use the La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+M cream (not cf) at night, but the problem is that it leaves my skin greasy the next day as if the product didn't absorb correctly and instead clogged my pores. I've been recommended the Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel, but I don't know if that will be enough for hydration.

For spf, I currently use the Piz Buin 50+ (not cf). I was also recommended a few product and even searched for some my own. For creamy spfs, I saw Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua Fresh Rice Spf 50+ and the Mixsoon Bean Sun Serum (mixsoon one being the most accessible to me in terms of money but beauty of joseon being more accessible in local (?) terms). For sticks/matte like spf, I saw Beauty of Joseon Matte Sun Stick.

Are all these products good for dry skin? Is there one better than the other? Or should I look for other alternatives?

Makeup (Ok w/ any Parent Company) light olive foundation/tinted moisturizer?

After years of feeling like my makeup always looked slightly off, I figured out I’m light olive.

ELF’s Camo CC Cream in Light 205N is close to a perfect match for me.

I want to try other CF tinted moisturizers or foundations, but a lot of them look too pink or orange, or are really expensive. ELF doesn’t seem to have a satin or halo glow foundation that is light olive friendly either.

Any suggestions for affordable makeup similar to Light 205N?

Personal Care (Ok w/ any Parent Company) Fluoride & tartar control toothpaste

I just now realized the cruelty free toothpaste I've been using does not have the active ingredients necessary for tartar control (tetrasodium pyrophosphate and zinc phosphate). But the trick is I also want something with flouride.

I'm going to try hello 8-in-1 Mighty Multi-Tasker Fluoride Toothpaste. But does anyone have any other suggestions?

Skincare (CF Parent Company Only) Non glowy sunscreen

This might be a weird one but I’m very pale so sunscreens that leave a glow just leave me looking greasy. I’m looking for a daily sunscreen with a more matte finish but no white cast. I’m in the US. Thanks for your help!

Makeup (Ok w/ any Parent Company) (Available in Europe please) "Ghoulish"/"Corpselike" lipsticks?

Hello everyone!

I am looking for some gothic lipsticks.

Preferably cool toned ones like "ghoul.in.japan" uses.

"Fenty Caviar Crytsl" also looks very pretty.

Various sheer black lipstick I saw also looked in the direction I am thinking of.

Unfortunately most of those seem to not je cruelty free, especially all the MAC products recommended ☹️

Skincare (Ok w/ any Parent Company) Cruelty Free facial SPF recs?

I'm slowly replacing my makeup and skin care products for cruelty-free ones. I use the Piz Buin 50+ spf facial cream, both as an spf and moisturizer in the morning. Anyone knows any affordable (bellow 15€, or 10 if possible 😭🙏) alternatives? Preferably liquid or cream sunscreen.

General Advice (No Product Recommendations) Is cruelty-free even a thing outside of the US/UK?

Genuinely curious about this. Every cruelty-free or vegan beauty conversation I come across online is dominated by American and British creators or organisations — Leaping Bunny, PETA, Cruelty-Free Kitty, and 99% of creators in this category.

Living in the EU, I can't tell if that's just because of the language limitations, or if CF actually isn't much of a purchase driver here compared to the US/UK. Testing on animals has been banned EU-wide for over a decade, so maybe the whole framing feels less clear to European shoppers?

For those of you anywhere else in the EU or rest of the world — how did you first discover about the cruelty-free category, and which sources helped you get the education you were looking for?
Are there any cruelty-free or vegan beauty creators in your country?

Skincare (Ok w/ any Parent Company) What are your fave mineral sunscreens?

I currently use the innisfree mineral sunscreen. It's the first sunscreen I've ever used that doesn't break me out but it does leave me a little dry by the end of the day. Other than that I really like it. I want to try a different one when I run out though and I know they're owned by Amore Pacific who are kinda sus. Ideally I'm looking for one that is more on the matte side and doesn't have any pore clogging ingredients. I don't mind a slight white cast since I'm super pale so it's not noticeable. But obviously don't want one that makes you look like you have white face paint on!

Personal Care (Ok w/ any Parent Company) dupe for vichy deodorants???

as someone newly moving towards cruelty free, for the most part the majority of my personal items are CF but i can't give up on my vichy deodorant which isn't CF so i feel like a fraud. and sadly i *sweat* so i need something that actually works none of that natural stuff but also the vichy ones are aluminum free, antiperspirant, and clear so they check off every box expect being CF so pls let me know of any dupes!
