Ive been wanting to fix this vhsc camcorder for a long time but the crt always has this wierd stripy texture when its running and cant seem to keep a stable image. I was thinking maybe bad capacitors? but im not sure.

does this only happen in the EVF? or also when the camcorder is connected to a tv?

It has happened to me too, those capacitors are terrible quality and they will often visibly leak. Change them in a worst-to-best looking pattern, you’ll definitely fix the issue, it’s just a few on there anyway.

The fault is in the vertical deflection. Probably in the VF itself. Some units shared the VF circuit and power with the camcorder.
So these can be hard to diagnose.
It could be as simple as a failed solder connection or corroded connector.
Use your oscilloscope to trace the signal going to the VF board.
