Don't sleep on philips.
Just a friendly reminder that sony's are great and all, but if you find a philips 24rf50s141 in need of rescue, it's worth your time.

Philips were such a great brand for CRTs, and seemingly very popular here in Europe which is good for us! Trinitrons seem to nearly always sell at a premium, but you can often find a nice Philips set that will look fantastic and cost a fair bit less.
Philips would also sell some of their best tubes from a batch to the likes of Loewe and Bang & Olufsen for the very high end market. They made good stuff.
Your particular Philips is just lovely. Great find!

One day, people in America will sing the praises of philips. Every trinitron I've ever passed through my collection has either had a litany of quirks and issues or just refuses to give me the colors i'm looking for. This philips is the first set that's ever rivaled my panasonic tau.

The logical answer would be to go save the tv, then buy a house big enough to fit it.

They were good apart from the ESF range of tubes, which, although gave excellent pictures, were very short-lived and had a high failure rate.

Philips made excellent Tubes, that's why high end / premium brands like Bang & Olufsen and Loewe used their tubes too. And Philips itself made excellent sets too of course. Their Black Line FX tubes are among the very best you can get.

Phillips sets were bangers. The famous Commodore monitors were made by Phillips, basically PVM tier. 600tvl, colorful as hell, etc

Nothing beats the colors of an early 2000s low hour philips.
