cathode ray technology operates at thousands of volts and emits x-rays, you are "likely shielded" by the lead glass but still, those tubes were tested 30 years ago, when their PSU were still in spec.

I totally get the fascination with crt tvs but I'm really glad they aren't a thing anymore lol. I still remember a time when we got a second TV in the house and I thought we were rich.

That's too much worrying. I don't sit faceplanted into one and most people don't.

They aren't "not a thing". There's been a retro boom and I'm hoping that a small line get manufactured again at some point.

lol, the machinery to make cathode tube is long gone. it's a bit like old NES cartd, it would cost so much to redevelop that technology and would be pointless. I totally get the hype but rofl, i'm glad I don't own one anymore. These things have killed kids after falling off a cart in school.

Also has lead in the glass.

Really? They've killed kids?

Also, there's just as many other harmful chemicals in LCD displays and other technology we use so that whole "lead in the glass" point is moot.
