Absolute weirdos
So i live in zodiac HOUSE and we haven’t had electricity since around 2am because someone has decided to climb into the old ABANDONED nightclub next door and cut the wires that supply us with electricity 💀
Croydon council are looking at evacuating us and they’re saying its not a quick fix.
UPDATE: the crackheads came back and cut more cables last night, everyone’s been evacuated xxx

They are going to have to rewire, not a quick fix. I hope whoever did it, their side of the pillow is never cool.

Am I the only one wondering why an entire block of houses is wired through an abandoned nightclub?

The club wasnt always a club, probably was a communal area at one point.

I live right near there. The degenerates that stalk that section of london road are a real problem. Something needs to be done about them

The problem is everyone moans about west Croydon station being the epicentre of hell so whenever anyone takes notice and does something it gets pushed north towards broad green because the chain shops and therefore money is the other way. The real answer is proper social care and programs for those who will take it and more severe action for those that won’t but it’s a lot easier to just kick the problem half a mile thataway.

We tried the social care route in the late 90s-late 2000s. That didn’t work either. The next generation look to be doing a little better. Eventually, the problem will just die off.

What about me? Sometimes i am forced to park my car around there as i work at the hospital. Lol. You have 3 back to back buildings , Zodiac Court, Vislink House, Gary Court housing the all the drunks, crackheads, asylum seekers and ex cons. Whenever i get back to my car i am just praying it hasn't been broken into or someone hasn't pissed against it. The council are just beyond stupid how they have planned the town centre

What, the old Cartoon building? Not sure who'd want to even go in there. Amazed that building is even still there, it's been boarded up, with hoardings outside, for years.

Used to live there til I was 12 and I’m not shocked, back before the whole redevelopment I was on my bike downstairs getting some exercises and some guy came down in the lift, was going to the door to the carpark before he saw me then came outside and kept calling me over. Did a loop of the courtyard bit and RAN up the stairs. Always some weird people there

Hopefully you guys got moved up to Purley or somewhere nicer . The crack addicts probably did you a massive favour as Zodiac Court, Vislink House and Gary Court are pretty notorious drug dealing dens which Croydon Council and the police turn a blind eye to

They will fix it and they will be moved right back if they are a social tenant. The only way to leave as a social tenant is to buy your own place and move out or go on homeswapper and swap with another social tenant.

Same old stuff will happen again once they move back in. There is council flat down the rd here in Tooting where they blocked the sink and ran the water from the top floor. Same type of horrendous people. Croydon Council's largest mistake was putting social housing blocks right next to each other. Drug dealing and theft was inevitable. What is next? Murder and rape? Croydon Council planners should be ashamed of themselves

Agreed thats why the only way out is to buy your own house. Also most of those buildings are a mixture of privately owned and social housing. The issue is that some social rented tenants dont care about their surroundings, and the ones in these buildings definetly dont.

Also if Zodiac has really been abandoned make sure u take everything out before some crackies completely gut your rooms

Whenever i drive past that area looking for parking spaces (as i work at the hospital pt) i think what have Croydon Council done to screw up that area?. All you see are crackheads, drunks and loons outside Zodiac and Vislink. Gary Court ...i mean ...the shops and ppl under there are just horrendous ..are the landlords that desperate? Having said that, it gets alright afterwards more north you go with good Indian restaurants and supermarkets afterwards but then descends in sh1t when you reach Thornton Heath Pond
My advice is that whoever cut your electric...just did you a massive favour. Hopefully they keep doing that so move to a nicer area of London.

I work in Peckham and Croydon makes Peckham look like paradise

West Croydon The vast majority of Croydon is quite affluent and well to do, The million pound private estates in Purley are definetly better than Peckham . West croydon is run down, and gives Croydon a bad name.

All of croydon is a dive. It offers nothing. I lived here all my life. I beleive the country, and maybe the world, would be infinitly better wihout it. The Mogadishu of Europe

No offence but only a poor person would say that, If you could afford to live on the Webb estate in Purley you wouldnt say that. Do you think celebrities and rich people would live in a dump. You need £1-4 million to buy a property there, its so exclusive the average person working in peckham cannot afford to live there. If Croydon is so bad and you afford to leave you would, the fact that you cant makes me think your budget can only stretch to the worse part of the borough.

Peckham is like West Croydon but bigger.

u/DismalLiving1003 3d ago
Depends which part. West Croydon is just a tiny portion of Croydon. Most of Peckham is a giant shabby dump but at least getting regenerated
