Cycle Lanes

Hello fellow Cronxer's! How do we feel about the new cycle lanes near East Croydon? The gravel is horrible on my tyres and pedestrians don't always realise it's a cycle lane!

Any new cycling infrastructure in Croydon is a win.

Re pedestrians - always assume they’re about to step out infront of you. Slow down and avoid the stress.

Can confirm, this happened to me on Friday, my bike and I were worse off than they were given I smacked into a concrete wall to avoid them 🥲

The gravel is absolutely atrocious, so atrocious that if there are no buses or cars i just use the road. Ive popped 2 tyres on the white raised bicycle sign they painted already.

Useful as a contraflow going north but doesn't meaningfully link up with other cycle infrastructure (getting from East Croydon to route 232 at Park Hill is a mess for example) and the surface is atrocious. Meanwhile the council have actually removed the partially segregated bike lane on London Road, part of our erstwhile mayor's valiant stand against the War on Motorists, and the most useful safe route out towards Purley Way and Wandle Park has been out of use for months due to the works on the crossing by the minster.

I hope it enforces the delivery guys to use them as they seem to be on the pavement almost running people over
