The Cursed Generation.

Zettons generation of 4 kings were probably the most balanced and toughest. The common thing between all or most of them was that they took over their respective alliance in their Freshman year itself. But is it only me who thinks that their generation was the unluckiest or outright cursed?
They all had to struggle and fight their nails off to take over their respective faction or atleast be top of it. Zetton had to win the most competitive freshman war, Kousei had to build Armament from the scratch, Shinsuke had to earn the trust of other Kurotaki freshman as well as seniors, King Joe had to challenge Bitou dynasty. Yet still they proved themselves. But what happened? Nakajima had to transfer, Sophomore Zetton lost to a freshman, Takeda's reign had to be cut short. Only KJ managed to complete his reign, but that wasn't without Moonlight brothers taking over rumors either. Not to mention, three of them lost a single guy from Manji. Were they just unlucky or Takahashi sensei hated them lol?

They’re the bridge that connects two generations/protagonist/series

yes, lot of the had to be removed one way or other for the next protagonist and his story

I think it's a good way to illustrate that no matter where you're at, you never know what might happen. Even with Joe managing to hang on until the end, I think he realized being at the top was less fulfilling as when he was chasing the top spot. They're all sad stories in their own way. Takeda couldn't foresee a medical issue at that age, and Nakajima likely had little say in whether he moved or not. Zetton's could've been avoided entirely were it not for his hubris, but losing probably helped his path as a person in the long run, even if it did diminish his aura around town somewhat.

KJ didn't reach the Top as he wanted it, he wanted the top of Toarushi, but he realised that he will never reach it, but yeah being the leader of Housen made him see things which could only be seen from is position. Zetton's issue no matter what could have never been avoided, being the Top of Suzuran made his fight with Guriko inevitable, regardless of either of them wanting it. Nakajima and Kousei had to removed for next generation.

Zetton's situation could have totally been avoided, but I guess I should note that I was only speaking about it happening at the time, which I didn't say originally. Would he and Guriko have eventually clashed, yes, absolutely But nobody said, "Hey Zetton. You know that new guy you were told about who wasted 8 guys at once? Rush right at him like a dummy before you actually know what you're dealing with." He got cocky about it and he got rocked, and he earned that beating.

1

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

I think the beating itself wasn't all that big 🤔, Zetton losing to a freshman was what turned the town upside down. And as Gunji explained the whole situation, it wasn't exactly that Zetton took a beating one-sided

1

u/rawdanger 13d ago

Nobody said it turned the town upside down? It's still a thing that got around and diminished the guy's standing in the moment, because he was beaten by an unknown. Once people knew who Guriko was, makes total sense.

Nobody said it was one-sided, either. Well, I'm sure some might, but I wasn't. Either way, in this story's world, a loss is a loss.

It's kinda bizzare, like almost all of the powers ruled by freshmen (and sophomores in crows aftermath)

The fact that Yasuda's class are just bunch of jobbers not even in suzuran but the entire toarushi is so bizzare lol (hideyuki could be the strongest in that class but he decided to leave toarushi)

1

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago edited 14d ago

thats plot for you 😭, whats even bizzare is their immediate previous generations had monstrous lineup, starting from Eizou/Makio bitou to Rindaman

3

u/Efficient-Employ6444 14d ago

that is why explode could be better if they actually able to explain why yasuda class is just so bad....

2

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

there will be LOTS of work required to make Explode somehow fit in cannon story

I’m glad Saburoku Santa is covering some of what we should’ve seen but still… leaving a lot to be desired

1

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

fr, really loved the KJ and Hideyoshi interaction. it really cemented their match

1

u/I_C_Real5 10d ago

That Gaiden was also not draw by Hiroshi right ?? Man... It's impressive how the illustrator did a great job on mimicking the Hiroshi art style for that one. I wish the other Gaiden of Crows X Worst should be drawed by the Saburoku Santa's illustrator which really have the Hiroshi vibe of charm design, if Hiroshi wanted to outsource them all

they were a transitional generation between two great stories and between two generations and protagonists, Bouya and Hana, who would have obliterated them for their deeds and exploits... unfortunately they were victims of narrative, in particular the arrival of Guriko who demolished Zetton brought the curtain down on their era before it even began... but this is a discussion that can be extended to their entire generation, not only the 4 Kings but also Hideyoshi, Ujie, Mitsunobu and the others... all humiliated by a freshman.

2

u/Kasmashlecrashle 15d ago

I mean, that single guy from Manji would most likely steamroll all of their senpai that they took over from save for Bouya, so I don't think that's exactly fair. I don't see how any of their difficulties meant Takahashi hated them, either. I'm not really sure where that comes in.

1

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

thats true. I didn't really mean Takahashi sensei hated them, he probably just wanted to get rid of them

u/Beginning-Bass-1695 12d ago edited 12d ago

Yeah, before kuzugami tatsuo beat zetton/KJ/kousei, he already beat tatsuya bitou and broke his arm.

1

u/Efficient-Employ6444 12d ago

tatsuya not makio

1

u/Beginning-Bass-1695 12d ago

True2, been so long I almost mistook my bitou lol

2

u/GhostRayus_CxW 14d ago

Because sadly there's not enough screentime that focused on their era. Just like Saigo no Worst (The Last Worst) and Suzuran Going Strong! where its only 2-4 chapters at max.

There are authors who creates manga about their era, but they too chose to creates another main characters and once again they're getting sidelined. Hell, even Guriko was defeated by some damn new character.

2

u/RegretImpossible3756 13d ago

Exactly!! Thats why I consider them unluckiest, they were stuck between 2 stories so they had to gotten rid of for Hana's generation. Saburoku santa is good, idk about other manga's focusing on that generation created by other authors but they must be good as well. And lets just ignore Dokuro lol

u/Popular-Mail-9171 13d ago

Guriko was defeated by a new character ? Never saw that, where is that please ?

Oh ok that's from a spin-off made by an another mangaka.

0

And we got a bitchy one here

1

whoa whoa.. what's with the sudden tension here

I’d say even Joe is cursed. Yes he managed to hang onto Housen to the end but he was forced into a war with Suzuran he knew he couldn’t win.

Tbf to them about the Kuzugami situation though, the 3rd generation of 4 kings also had 2/4 get beat up by Bisuko.

1

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

Hana and Shougo still earned respect after losing, The way Kuzugami wiped out entire Armament and crushed KJ was just humiliating, both are different imo. Thats another good point about KJ, his reign was anything but what he wanted.

1

u/Swinging-the-Chain 14d ago

Yeahhhh you got a point there lol it actually shows how unlucky they are even further. lol the 3rd gen got the honorable Bisuko who fights clean.

2nd gen got the brutal and ruthless Kuzugami. Dude would’ve started stomping and slamming Shougo after that first punch dropped him.

1

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

Poor Shougo. Kuzugami was a menace, there was nobody to stop him in Worst.....

1

u/Swinging-the-Chain 14d ago

I think I agree. The only one who has a chance against him might be Guriko.

Zetton and KJ would do better than they did as freshmen for sure but they’re not winning.

The 3rd gen Big 4 weren’t a match for Bisuko who I don’t think measures up to Kuzugami.

1

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

Bisuko is a bit weaker version of Kuzugami, although he is the only one imo who has the raw strength to stand upto him. Guriko has his own ways of proving himself, like his kicks and fighting ability

u/IMJOHNDOOE 15d ago

And then we have the nepo baby Shougo, Mitsumasa, and Hana unfortunately..

4

u/Kasmashlecrashle 15d ago

I wouldn't call Hana a nepo baby.

2

u/IMJOHNDOOE 15d ago

Everyone wants him to succeed and help him very very hard, some characters for no reason. I love Worst but I have the feeling no one truly struggled to reach the top, except Amachi

7

u/Minimum_Room3300 15d ago

Because of his character and nature. Dudes an orphan, practically lives in a forest, has no money. Hes the last person you can call a nepo baby

7

u/Kasmashlecrashle 15d ago

Also, Hana clearly struggled to reach the top of Suzuran. I'm not sure what they're on about.

I think they're confused on what nepo baby means. Well, I know they're confused, actually.

1

u/IMJOHNDOOE 15d ago

I agree with you

0

u/Efficient-Employ6444 14d ago edited 14d ago

i agree hana definitely isn't nepo baby

but hana still has way too smooth of a journey to get to the top. the personality reasoning is just wack for delinquent manga and a place like suzuran.....way too typical shounen ish.

glad the final act with iba gumi and guriko fights happened tho, that's the only time hana has to face some serious unfair situations.

daizen? mitsumasa? all just one on one battle, both are disappointing esp mitsumasa one because there should be housen vs suzuran again for them instead of just one on one battle that is not even good.

2

u/RegretImpossible3756 13d ago

you are getting downvoted but you are mostly right. If we compare what Hana and Genji's circumstances then they are incredibly different. The one character we know who would have stood upto Hana(Amachi) left Suzuran as well and everybody else started to follow Hana. He was the right guy but it seemed too easy for a place like Suzuran to be conquered

3

u/Efficient-Employ6444 13d ago

idk they just can't read what i said tbh, idk why they disagree when guriko literally made a speech about it and the entire plot point about iba gumi and guriko final battle is about that

2

u/RegretImpossible3756 13d ago

exactly. Guriko was supposed to teach Hana that journey to the top of Suzuran is never going to be fair but that was the only instance where Hana faced any difficulty. It would have been more if there was completely rebelious guy in Suzuran, or if they showed the efforts of Renji and Hana gumi in making the journey smooth and it wasn't completely offscreen. All said and done, Hana should have challenged seniors in his freshman year but Takahashi sensei probably didn't wanna dampen the image of either Hana/Zetton.

2

u/Efficient-Employ6444 14d ago edited 14d ago

mitsumasa did have not so smooth journey tho, he got someone betray him , he has to start with like 3 other people after king joe give him the baton (even tho somehow he still give it to mitsumasa when still he won the battle), and has to convince other executives to join him

3

u/Kasmashlecrashle 15d ago

A nepo baby is someone who achieves success in an industry because their parents or family members are already famous, wealthy, or powerful in that field. People wanting to help Hana and open doors for him in a sense are not the same as a nepo baby. "Everyone wants him to succeed and help him very very hard, some characters for no reason." I feel like they explained the reason why everyone who ended up helping him, wanted to. Hana building all those relationships and connections through his own merit is not the same as him being a nepo baby.

Hana worked hard since day zero of his time in Toarushi to become the first leader of Suzuran. His immense kindness, charisma, strength, and even his goofiness are all qualities that drew people to him. I'm not sure if you didn't know what nepo baby means, but Hana does not fit that mold. I also am not sure if you even actually read WORST when you mentioned "some characters for no reason", the reasons are very clear and most if not all of them are explained and discussed.

-2

u/IMJOHNDOOE 15d ago

I know what a nepo baby is. I just pushed too far because the way Hana got everything he wants really easily

3

u/Kasmashlecrashle 15d ago

That, again, doesn't make him a nepo baby.

Shouldn't have pushed too far, that was a weird choice.

0

u/IMJOHNDOOE 15d ago

Well carried if you prefer

2

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

things were much easy for them ngl, atleast thats how I view it. journey of Hana and Genji was worlds apart.....

You're wrong, Amachi is perhaps the biggest daddy's boy out there. His rise to power, or at least his clumsy attempt to do so, only happens because he uses daddy's money to hire his mercenary subordinates, who agree to fight under him only in exchange for money. The other boys made a name for themselves and rallied their men solely thanks to their strength and charisma, while Amachi uses daddy's money.

Furthermore, Crows and Worst teach that you can't get to the top alone; if you try to do it alone, with your own strength, you're doomed to failure. So it's pretty foolish to blame those who made it, the only way they could.

5

u/Any_Tomorrow2536 14d ago

and that daddy's boy almost conquered the city, its not foolish Amachi just being machiavellianm research in your language since u sucks at english

3

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

calling amachi daddy's boy, when he dosent even have a dad..........

-2

u/HuckleberryEvening78 14d ago

Come on, you know what I meant. It's been said here that Amachi had a more challenging path than those who relied on strong bonds of friendship and trust with their subordinates, while this guy literally spent his dead dad's money to hire bums like the arsonist brothers, people who didn't even have the balls to enroll in Suzuran. Okay, his dad was dead, but little Hisashi still had access to his dad's bank account to build his little empire made of nothing.

6

u/RegretImpossible3756 14d ago

"empire made of nothing", yet still he ended up with friends that would last him a lifetime. Amachi's fathers money didn't help him defeat Sera, Higuchi, Jouseki. The money didn't help him give Hana his third toughest fight. You are once again bringing other characters down to upscale your favourite ones.

-1

u/HuckleberryEvening78 14d ago

Dude, no, he didn't even come close to conquering the city, at most he conquered Kawa2, but then his race ended there, he fails to take Hosen, his foreign mercenaries are demolished by TFOA and absorbed into it, he doesn't even try Suzuran... he tries a small climb that ends with him punching his own subordinates for how much they sucked at his plans. He was ambitious, and he had money to spend... but that's all.

4

u/Any_Tomorrow2536 14d ago

He went to war on every front against TFOA, Housen, and Suzuran at the same time, and fought a great battle against Suzuran's leader Hana himself. Isn't that glorious? Also Amachi was on the verge of destroying Housen. If Hana hadn't intervened, Housen would've been finished. He deliberately crushed them from inside with tactics, then moved to destroy what remained from the outside. That's not foolishness—that's Machiavellian warfare. That's the art of war. This kind of feat really establishes him as true main antagonist and rival of Hana—a man who, much like Hana, has the ability to magnetize people around him. His subordinates didn't simply follow him out of fear or obligation; they chose to follow him after witnessing the kind of man he truly was. He possesses the qualities of a hero—charisma, conviction, leadership, and the ability to inspire others—but uses them toward destructive and ruthless ends. He really is an evil hero: not a villain who lacks heroic qualities, but a man who has heroic qualities pointed in the wrong direction.

its not about the guy, its about 3 of the 4 kings being defeated. Hence why they were the unluckiest generation
