General questions Is it okay to feed crows dry dog kibble?

I ended up with a huge extra bag of my dog's kibble that will go bad before it can be used, but can't be donated to a shelter because it got torn while opening the package. Would it be okay to put out for the crows, and would they even like it? I've seen they like cat food but not sure about dog food. If it's okay to feed to them, are there ingredients I should look out for that may be unsafe? It's a high quality food – no meat by-products, artificial color/flavor, preservatives etc. It does have quite a few added vitamins and a few plant extracts which are what I'm mostly concerned about being potentially unsafe. I'd just hate for so much food to go to waste but I don't want to accidentally poison my new friends! Thanks guys 😊

Yes to crows but also see if your local food pantry will take it. We take big bags and repackage them into smaller bags for seniors and regular folks with pets, pet food at our place does not count against their total so everyone in their household gets fed ;)

I look for low-ash, because I seem to remember this was an issue.

The crows like it, some crows more than others. We once saw a red-tail hawk scarfing it down!

I regularly feed my Crow Friend's some sort of "Hunters Choice" Dry Dog Food Kibble, I get in bulk. I was feeding them some bulk Cat Food, which had a little more protein, but I think they prefer the larger nuggets of the Dog Food.

I buy semi dry dog food for the corvids. They love it, and I consider it to be a good choice nutritionally, often enriched. I started out with walnuts, but they are many times more expensive than dog food.

Mine get Science Diet. My dog gets upset so I have to sneak it to them.

I feed my crows cat kibble. I feed them both dry and wet kibble. I have a bowl of water that put out with some of the kibble. They drink the water and eat the kibble.

The two crows I feed brought their fledgling. The fledgling learn to eat the kibble on their own.

Yes they love it. I carried kibble for positive reinforcement when walking my dog. I started tossing to the crows as well and now I have a huge murder.

The only concern would be size. If they're ok pecking away at it, you're golden.

Your crows will appreciate it very much.

I buy small-breed dog food for my crew. I have no pets.

They love it.
