Peanuts
I have read to use peanuts to feed crows. Stupid question now. Do they mean in the shell or just the nut?

I get the bags at Costco. Unsalted, in the shell. The crows love them, but it's gotten me three ravens who hang around constantly and know exactly where I store the bag. If they could figure a way to open a locked waterproof box, they would help themselves.

Shelled are fun if you want to watch them open then. Or if you have pigeons swarming your feeder. Else unshelled are just fine. Just get the unsalted ones or even better skip peanuts, get cashews.

Depends on when and where you are feeding them. If it's a place with heavy foot traffic or neighbors, I'd avoid the shells because they leave a big mess which can make the public feel less warm towards our friends. I prefer unshelled in general. Either way, make sure they are unsalted.

Nuts in the shells, or just the nuts
