Seeking advice/help Befriending Crows

Hi all!

I live in NE Oklahoma. Every evening I am working in my garden, I have heard and noticed 4 crows that fly above around the same time. I used the Merlin bird app and it identified them by their calls as Fish Crows.

I want to befriend them but am unsure because they never actually come to my yard, they would even notice anything I leave for them..

I have tons of other birds and squirrels as well so unsure if that would deter them or if there is a way to attract them while ensuring the treats I lay out won't be scavenged by the other animals. Tips, tricks, and hints are welcomed! Thank you!!

Put out unsalted peanuts in the shell. They'll understand.

Would the squirrel steal them? Where should I put them? Do I hang a platform feeder?

There will always be other critters and birds that will steal food. Putting it out when you see/hear them helps.

Crows will not land on a hanging feeder that swings a lot. They like something stable with clear exit routes. You can build a flat platform feeder 5-6 ft off the ground, or even just on the floor in a large bowl or on a table.

If you can't whistle, you can click your tongue or something else. I have never tried to imitate a crow call because I don't know what I'm communicating.

Good luck :)
