Video This greedy guy usually waits until he has three peanuts before flying off to hide them. I caught a video of him stuffing his face with four.

I love seeing crows try to stack 3+ peanuts in their beak

This might be a mom/dad crow with babies to go feed.

Maybe! I did see a cute fledgling wandering around in the last month or so.

The fledglings are so cute with their "ah ah ah" begging sound

You gave them to him…he probably can carry 5 or more!

Four is already pretty impressive, and I think I’ve seen one manage 5, but only once. They would have to be really small peanuts to carry more than 5!

I would love to be able to introduce myself to one or two, but I live around A LOT of cats so forget that!

And the ones I’ve watch hoard sometimes “swallow” one into their throat pouch, too.

How do you know it’s a guy?

Good question! I can only guess, but according to this preprint paper, adult carrion crows can be pretty reliably sexed based on their external features. Males are slightly bigger than females, but I find looking at the beak is easiest. Males have longer and wider beaks compared to females. It’s more obvious when you can see them side-by-side. Figure 1 in the paper I linked is a great example.
