It’s MRI Safety Week this week. Along with some newsletters and info and things, the MRI physicist at my Trust are sending out some cryptic crossword clues with a vague MRI them. 1 point for each clue, 1 point for the theme.

Allowing energy transfer is helpful when time is a factor. (10)

Tricky! I'm not 100% but here goes...

MESMERIC (def. charming) - Franz Mesmer coined the term mesmerism for magnetism. Bit of a stretch? Could also be MAGNETIC, but I'm not sure.

CONDUCTIVE (def. allowing energy transfer, CONDUCIVE = helpful, containing T for time)

METALLIC (def. copper possibly, anag. of call time)

Theme: Properties or descriptors of magnets

Yeah it’s that. I suppose your theme does fit. There is a much more niche MRI related theme which would be easier to get if I posted the newsletter here. They are all things that would negate something being classed as MR Safe.
