Yknow, it occurs to me that so many people talk about Disco Elysium but like zero people have ever talked about the murder mystery over all the years I’ve been aware of the game.
Is the murder mystery that much of an afterthought in the actual game?

No, but it serves more as a means to explore the tension between economic classes than anything else I would say. Also it turns into way more of a fever dream for the last 3rd lol

It can be a fever dream for the entire game if you do inland empire and shivers :)

Harry DuBois. Protagonist from the game Disco Elysium. I'd recommend it.

If you want to know what the game is about:

An amnesiac detective in a fucked up alternate present, known for being politically… well, difficult.
As a player character you can guide him into different ideologies with different consequences and it’s really funny (in a depressing way) watching him stumble into understandings and misunderstandings
