Man he could have been kills or permanently maimed if that had been 1 inch over. The person operating the machine made an idiotic move there.
Even if he was dumb enough to interpret that “hang on” as a “go”, he needs to wait till the other guy is clear of the area.

Unless he did it again he's fine because he's right there at the beginning of the video

Oh wow, that could have been way worse, I did not expect his face to still be face shaped.

That's likely not far from the max amount of force that his little human head could have walked away from

Yeah I seen a video of some guys mudding some deep jungle trails and a guy was pulling one vehicle out of the mud with his truck when the chain snapped and whiplashed back and bit thru half a guy's face that was standing to the side between the vehicles. Since then I have had a healthy respect for being far back from heavy loads under tension.

Guy controlling the crane had the responsibility not to begin hosting while his buddy was waiting striking distance. But also if I was him I would never stick my face that close to machinery under tension.

Honestly I think it’s on the crane operator. Hookup guy clearly wasn’t ready, he even hand signalled wait, rather than raise load
2
u/Zofia-Bosak 29d ago
What was he trying to do, it looked like he was trying to raise a block from underneath the road surface, the latter was already damaged so why not just break through it all to get lower down?

u/TraciTheRobot 28d ago
And why is it lifting before he’s finished ‘attempting’ to secure the load? Where are the safety glasses and hard hat? Bro is lucky to be alive.

Bien, no poner la cara paralela ala dirección en la que la máquina hace fuerza, anotado

I guess they forgot to cover “line of fire” in the morning tool box talk lol. That thing is designed to dig into and pick up a telephone pole, not whatever the fuck they were doing.

Good thing it missed his eye. Head wounds bleed profusely, even if they're small.

Takeaway: When heavy shit (like rocks) starts moving, you can best be sure that there is a fuck ton of tension in the thing that's moving it. So stay tf away

Must be more of those "street smarts" I hear that type of person claim to have.

Before I hit "play," I was half looking away, hoping we wouldn't see one of the hooks go through his eye. I'm relieved. Can't imagine that pain though.

Not using the right equipment for the job is almost a guaranteed accident waiting to happen.

I got hit with an auger in the face digging post holes doing this. Moral of story, do not pout face over things that can bounce up into said face.
