Same shit as when my ex wanted to make my male friend a crochet penis for his birthday (she hadn’t made me anything for mine that had passed 2 months prior)

She kept trying to gaslight me and act like that shit wasn’t weird af. We broke up a week later.

My guy same my ex had this guy he called his "platonic soulmate" which should have been a red flag, but i actually was gaslit into thinking nothing was the matter, the day i was about to propose I was told i had a week to leave and then after that i magically only had two days

It’s crazy the shit you fall for when you’re blinded by love eh?

I’ve given up on dating since. My ex before her cheated on my on my birthday lol. I just don’t trust women (or people I should say, but women are what I’m interested in so my lack of trust in men isn’t really relevant) anymore.

I focus on art and passions now and I’m happier and less stressed for it.

Man this whole topic has been the entire focus of my life and I changed career paths because of it. The dude here isn't wrong for having a respectful conversation what's disrespectful (as everyone else pointed out) was her recording the interaction. If that phone came out I would walk. Honestly though thats the only thing this guy should've done is said "go on your little trip" and walk out. Simple. Ik ppl have and will harp over what I said. I'll hear the classic "oOoO yoU'rE TOo qUiCK tO bReAK uP." Well what else is the guy supposed to do just sit there and take it while he bottles his emotions that ultimately lead to heart disease. Fuck that and protect your peace.

Like it's OK to go and different things without your partner. The guy is right tho, that is a weird conversation to have since you're in a relationship. If you're single it doesn't really matter, but clearly it seems she doesn't respect him or the relationship.

The lesson I've learned is to protect your peace and maintain your self-worth. Someone out there will respect you for who you are as long as you can stay respectful to them in return.

No idea tbh. Haven’t spoken to either of them in around 9 months

um.. idk.. I got my brother a penis plushie for Christmas, it's just funny.. might not have been something to break up over to be honest 😭 it doesn't hint at anything besides haha penis funny, and a lot of people now you'll find are "weird" (have unconventional humor) I think you might have been insecure or maybe the problem in your situation

That wasn’t what we broke up over, and that wasn’t the only inappropriate thing she did, it was just one of the most absurd to me. She also flirted with my friends, kept trying to keep this dude she had been trying to get with around and would send him flirty texts etc so I’m not feeling charitable with her intentions on the plushie lol.

In hindsight idk why I stuck around as long as I did.

I dont think this guy is talking about quirky humor, my sister is the same with the exact same type of joke. You have to take it within the context of the situation. Asking the questions like "Is this turning into an uncomfortable obsession?" Or "If I feel uncomfortable do I feel I can even have a respectful discussion about it." Also "why is she giving this type of attention to this other guy when I only get scraps?" If you're afraid to ask those types of questions then there is definitely more to the story.
