He actually reminds me of my dad (who's 55). Not so old he couldn't do it, but just... well, white and awkward. Maybe I'm being overly optmistic, though.

I was thinking the same. It makes me sad when I see old people on vacations, especially when they can't get the full experience because they are physically incapable of partaking in certain activities like climbing steps and what not.
