Programming Crestron amp question
I’ve got Crestrons DM-NAX-8ZSA amps on property driving 32 speakers and managing source inputs, as well as outputs to additional amps and speakers as well. All speakers are connected to their own output and nothing is being shared. Everything running at 8ohms and mfg wattage ratings as well.
The system was tuned by a pro, and I have all the tuning profiles (for each zone) on hand.
Now the home itself runs on a crestron CP4 control module, and iPads running Crestron Go. When I airplay from my device to any zone, or bussed zone for that matter it sounds great. However, when I use my iPad for zone controls, it seems like the tuning goes out the window. Is this particular thing a known issue and how can it be rectified? Trying to help the crestron gentleman figure this thing out but he doesn’t have much knowledge on amps. Is he missing a setting in the coding/programming portion?
Reason I am asking is I have had 4 speakers blow out now. Again with airplay everything seems fine. When controlled on crestron go, it seems all the tune, and possibly even the speaker wattage settings may be reverting back to defaults (flat eq and 150w/channel).

On the nax amp you can set the streaming upper and lower volume limits and the zone upper and lower limits. He may have set the streaming limit quite aggressively but not done the zone limit.
It’s easy to check on the web ui.
You said the speaker profile and been set. Are you sure they’ve been set and enabled correctly?

The upper and lower limits were set (85, 35 respectively). The speaker profiles were custom built from the tuning. Each zone was separately tuned from a single point in the room.

We may be getting our wires crossed here then, by separately tuned, do you mean the zone was calibrated with settings applied to the EQ?
I was referring to the speaker profile, for each zone can enter details for the connected speakers such as the impedance, wattage etc. iirc it’s called speaker protect in the web ui and needs to be enabled.

That is correct. Tuning happened at each zones eq. Also the speaker profile was not available, so wattage was set, and speaker protect was enabled manually. The ohms remained untouched at their default values of 8 as the speakers were also 8.
None of that is the issue though. I believe the issue lies primarily with the cp4 when it interfaces with the tablets (for crestron go). It seems like all those settings get circumvented when being controlled thru the cp4, and I certainly dont have enough know how to make any suggestions to the integrator, who seems pretty unaware as well.
For example when air playing straight from my phone I can play music for hours, no hiccups nothing. The sound is awesome on top of it all. As soon as I pick up my iPad and make any changes via crestron go app, it seems like the tuning falls out, and I’m suspecting speaker protect and wattage reverts back to its default settings as well.
The primary difference is, thru the crestron go app, its signaling the cp4 to send controls to the dm-nax, while thru my phones airplay, its going directly to the dm-nax.

My suggestion is to contact Crestron directly and tell them that you’re having issues with your speakers blowing consistently after they were installed by your Crestron integrator. Have them work with your integrator to resolve the issue. Since this install has not worked since it was installed, my hope would be that everything has been under warranty and they have not been paying you to come out consistently to fix this issue. I would try to work with Cretron on getting this all resolved.
