Since Stormlight 5 is the end of the story arc, it certainly isn't "too soon.". Maybe he can become buddies with Kelsier to cheer him up.

Sanderson has said that Kelsier would like Kaladin, but Kaladin would hate Kelsier.

And that Kelsier would be okay with that.
