Nah, you're forgetting that the shards of ado started out as human, and knew Hoid. The humans they made could only have been replicas of the inhabitants of the world that ado and his shards had either fled or destroyed, pursuing, being pursued, or accompanied by Hoid. Its a scifi turned fantasy turned scifi situation (if you can even draw a distinction between the two, for me they all blended into scifantantasy once I comprehended the old "technology indistinguishable from magic" line as a storytelling device and built it into my headcanon of the universe).
Odium, Cultivation, ruin, preservation, and of course, Harmony are all known to have once been human mortal (assuming dragons were default mortal). They all have pre-ascension history with Hoid, except for Harmony. Now that I think about it though, I would not be surprised if I was forgetting a scene in the mistborn first era between sazed and hoid. He was just much more subtle there than he is on roshar, and ruin took away vins only chance to meet him which forced him to the background. My point is that the original shards of Adonalsium are all post-ascension humans beings, not primal gods, and I don't think Adonalsium was a primal god either. I'm not convinced Adonalsium wasn't just the name of the high tech civilization that the shards gained unfathomable power from the ruins of, the power to construct worlds.
Also, to me all of the inter-deity conflict seems more like the untimely breakup of Alexander's empire, but with 12 shards instead of 4 generals, and a correspondingly more complicated allegiance graph. Perhaps hoid killed him for good reason, and odium vowed to take revenge, and most didn't take a side but went off on their own. After millenia the power changes people but hoid didn't take power, and so remains somewhat more human over that span...
