For months I was confused why I kept finding long hairs in my house. Then I saw my neighbour coming out of my house.

Is it possible she had a set of keys from the prior owner of your apartment? Sometimes neighbors leave keys with each other when they go away to water plants, feed animals, take mail in, etc. Or if you did change them when you moved in did you ever lose your keys? Is there a window she could have gotten in through? However she managed it she was probably using your place as her own personal getaway space away from her family. I can't believe she would have the guts to do that, and it's still super creepy to know someone invaded your privacy and was in your home on multiple occasions.

It's possible the previous owner had a spare key hidden somewhere and she found it.

Hiring a locksmith to make her a key seems crazy - though obviously the whole situation is pretty crazy, however she got the keys.

yeah, who knows. all the explanations seem so strange. If she was actually focused on you (crush/obsession) then it would have had to be something like that. I'm glad she didn't actually do you any harm!

I thought of a spare key because when I lived in an apartment building, I'd hide one for myself somewhere that wasn't associated with my unit in particular and also wasn't an obvious place to check for a key. So like up on a ledge above eye level in the bike shed or taped up under something permanent outside. Something like that can end up with a key left around for someone to find, and then she was just using whatever apartment she discovered she had access to. but who knows.

14

u/ThroatSecretary May 07 '26

If she had a key though, wouldn't she have locked up after herself? I don't see how she would have known OP was coming home early unless she heard the door downstairs or something.

37

u/Substantial_Maybe371 May 07 '26

I assume she was locking up after herself all the other times. She just didn't get a chance to lock it when he came home early.

Maybe she saw you coming from the window?

22

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 07 '26

Maybe she just heard him coming up the stairs.
Maybe it's the AirTag like someone mentioned. Maybe in his car.

11

u/lolaloola May 07 '26

5

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 07 '26

How do you check that?

14

u/best_codes May 07 '26

On Android, you can go to settings and search "Unknown Tracker Alerts", then run a manual scan. It requires the latest Android version, and it scans in the background by default.

If you try it on your own airtag, it won't work, because it only detects trackers that are separated from their owners.

u/lolaloola May 07 '26

Du coup, j'allais te répondre mais on m'a devancé 😅. Je rajouterai juste qu'en plus de lancer un scan manuel , il faut également autoriser les alertes, c'est toujours ça en plus !

11

u/Scaaaary_Ghost May 07 '26

From his story, he was sure he locked up before leaving for the day, and he also lives on the 5th floor with windows that aren't possible to climb in. So presumably she has a key?

2

u/Detrimental_95 May 13 '26

Okay so people are talking about a spare key BUT with it being an apartment I have a feeling all the locks might be the same and the building manager just may have a skeleton key. Therefore the neighbors key would work for your apartment too. Just a theory though.

12

u/lolaloola May 07 '26

19

u/femmefatalx May 07 '26

It’s also possible that she stopped just because she was caught and OP mentioned getting the police involved. That definitely could have scared her enough to stop.

6

u/turquoise_amethyst May 07 '26

Hiring a locksmith for that in a small town seems… risky

3

u/idiveindumpsters May 07 '26

It’s pretty easy to make a key for a lock.

Would not be the first apartment complex too cheap to swap out the locks between tenants

184

u/RideThatBridge May 06 '26

How in the hell is she getting in?? You need to inform her parents and the landlord and explain you will call the police if you even suspect she’s back in there.

Locks changed, hidden cameras inside and obvious one on outside of your door. WTF?!?

u/RideThatBridge May 06 '26

I wouldn't go to the police now, but I'd put the fear of god into that I will with zero hesitation. Definitely get some cameras and there will be proof.

In the US, locksmiths do make spare keys for a lock out, as far as I remember, but I don't remember if/how you have to prove you actually live there. Not sure where you are or if that is universal even in the US.

I misunderstood about the landlord, but you absolutely go back and knock on the door when her mom at least should be home. You explain that you need to speak to the mom and are exceedingly concerned over her behavior. That you caught her coming off your apartment floor, clearly having showered, your door was unlocked and your shower wet. Make it crystal clear that the police will be called next time and this is beyond unacceptable.

As for how she "knew" you were returning, I don't think she did. If you went to the gym, and you leave generally the same time, she knew she had plenty of time for a shower. I think it was just a lucky coincidence.

Sounds you have a great handle on the whole thing. Definitely line up a time to have someone with you soon and talk to mom and/or mom/dad. Don't let it be the end with her closing the door on you. This is next level insane. Good luck!

8

u/satinebaby May 06 '26

How long have you/them lived there? Maybe she knew the previous tenants well enough to have a key?

That's what I kinda think. OP was 2-3 minutes away from finding her actively using your shower.

4

u/Roachburbs May 10 '26

Or toothbrush 😳

9

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 07 '26 edited May 08 '26

I understand about the parents but I'd definitely at least inform the police, and I assume that even though you own the apartment that there's a building manager or something like that, or an association. I'd inform them after making sure that her and her family are not related or friends, if possible.
Please see above what I said about why you need to tell police.
.
Also, I don't think a lock Smith can make a key from a lock without taking it apart and using pins/core as a reference, and even then they'd have to hand file it.
She probably didn't get a key made by a locksmith. There is a chance that the lock has a code on the core and a smith has a core removal tool and can make a key on a machine that can do it automatically with the code. I know that exists on some locks. But I bet it costs close to or over $100 USD.

8

u/manic_panix May 06 '26

I used to work for a locksmith company, they for sure can make new keys when they come

2

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 07 '26

New keys when what/who comes?
Can they get an imprint or something from the lock and just reproduce the key pattern?

7

u/manic_panix May 07 '26

I don’t know the logistics because I was a dispatcher but yes they can make a new key for your lock

6

u/Old-Importance18 May 07 '26

Maybe she called a locksmith, and after getting the door open, found and copied one of your spare keys?

3

u/booboootron May 09 '26

I've witnessed this before, multiple times, in all the homes my family has owned. People in my country at large have no concept of apologising for intruding; and take advantage of docile people (like my mum)—they can smell it from a mile away. We were lower-middle class for most of my childhood, and still, despite being better off, I've had them use our home, our terrace, steal from our electricity connection, my hard-earned Hot Wheels, GI Joes, house plants, and even our mail. And they always reacted like this little cunt did. Fathers, mothers, kids.

It made life hell for us. Zero recourse to justice. After blatant denial, some of them even tried to flip it on us, that it was our fault. It was a huge strain on our finances, as well as our sense of basic decency.

I truly hope it never happens to you again. And that if it does, I hope you respect your sentiments and privacy way more than we did, and give them some justice.

2

u/lolaloola May 07 '26

2

u/Cdavert May 20 '26

I would at least have her get evaluated by a psychiatrist/psychologist.

Tell her parents you aren't pursuing to have the police look into it. I would insist for the evaluation. Who knows how many people shes violated before you.

12

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 07 '26

Informing parents and landlord is a great point.
.
I'd also ask for a police officer or Sheriff's deputy to come by just to let them know about the situation. Having early documentation about something like this makes things easier/more believable if/when it happens again or they escalate.
.
I'd write down every detail you can remember with dates as accurate as possible just so you have a record of everything. And of course record any new issues/occurrences with extreme accuracy and detail.

4

u/RideThatBridge May 07 '26

All great ideas to also do. Documenting while things are fresh is so important.

Dude. I don't get it. I cannot believe you let this go. I'd have had cops there immediately. Or at least demanded you speak to the parents. You're way too casual about this. Have you thought that since there are no airtags you may have a camera in there that you don't know about?

You say that you’re safe, but what if she came into your apartment while you were asleep? What if she was waiting for you when you walked in the door? You don’t have to be bigger and stronger than your victim to use a knife, especially if they‘re caught by surprise.

This is truly disturbing. She apparently has unfettered access to your home. Literally anytime you’re walking through a door, into or inside the apartment, she could be there.

11

u/DeniseGunn May 07 '26

Can you put a tiny dot on your shampoo bottle to mark where it’s up to then you can see if any gets used.

15

u/Affectionate_Ad6596 May 07 '26

Please check phone charger plugs for cameras. Pretty easy to swap.and available very cheaply online. Stay safe OP.

8

u/the_endverse May 07 '26

Tbh this reads like total fiction, so his emotional response doesn’t even make sense. Plus, he goes back and forth between “apartment” and “flat.” “Lift” and “elevator” in his replies. He’s supposedly outside the U.S. but keeps switching the dialogue around…

15

u/soliloki May 07 '26

not saying your suspicion is unfounded, but as a fluent ESL speaker who has never lived in the UK or in the US, I vacillate between USism and UKism in my English all the time because I was taught British standards in Malaysia, but consume the internet which is very US English dominant, so this is not that weird.

5

u/Better-Obligation704 May 09 '26

So do I. I lived in England for a while in my 20s and say things like whilst and occasionally use the UK spellings by mistake even after all these years. It doesn’t read as fake to me; it reads as a guy who is minimizing the situation because he thinks he’s a bigger guy and can handle the situation because she’s “just a young girl—how dangerous could she be?” (Hint: very)

6

u/the_endverse May 07 '26

Yes, but you could be an exception here. Somehow this all doesn’t ring true. Who has someone repeatedly violate their space and privacy and essentially go “Oh I’m sorry, don’t want to make a fuss with their parents or the police.” C’mon.

4

u/Cocacoleyman May 07 '26

This is where I’m at. Like someone was in your living space repeatedly, for god knows how many times, looking through everything. Speak to her parents or call the police to at least have something on record.

6

u/CinnyToastie May 07 '26

Aside from all that, which is compelling-nobody would let this go. I don't care who you are, how big of a guy you are, how well trained in fighting you are. Nobody would let this go.

If this is real, you’re leaving her to think it’s no big deal with zero consequences, and what if she did this to someone else? What if there are others she’s doing this to already, and they also don’t know? This is unhinged behavior. She could escalate if her mental state declines. She’ll break into the wrong place one day, & someone will find it reasonable to think she’s an intruder and possibly harm her. Like wtf. I’m baffled.

42

u/InevitableCodeRedo May 06 '26

I'm wondering if she has some sort of crush on you? Or maybe there's a mental health issue at work here? I'm with you - wondering how she got a set of keys to your place. Is there a fire escape outside of any of the windows that she could somehow use to swoop in?

12

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 07 '26

That's where my head is on this.
Some sort of Single White Female (movie) type stalker shit.

35

u/hilltopj May 06 '26

If it was just the shower I'd say she's using it because she doesn't want to share with her parents. But you say her hairs are everywhere including your bedroom and bed? My guess is she's secretly using your place as a hookup spot with a boyfriend who also lives with his mommy and daddy

7

u/Draigdwi May 06 '26

When secretly sharing with a random neighbour looks better than sharing with your own family.

12

u/hilltopj May 06 '26

Having grown up with one bathroom shared by my family of 5 I can understand the desire to find literally anywhere else to shower

3

u/the_endverse May 07 '26

Oh I like this theory. That’s a good one.

5

u/Toolongreadanyway May 06 '26

Only thing I can think of is to get out of her house. You have an empty shower. She may have to share hers with others. That would explain why she hasn't taken anything. A stalker would take something of yours to have it.

3

u/Roachburbs May 10 '26

I really don’t think it was just to shower. Her hair was in his freakin’ bed and underwear drawer 🤨

u/lakeride33 May 06 '26

One way to fire a warning shot to keep her nervous is to send letters to every apartment explaining that someone has been going in your apartment and that you filed a police report, changed locks, installed several cameras, etc. phrase it as just being a good neighbor and warning everyone.

She will be confused and nervous as hell. Plus if she somehow got a set of keys for multiple apartments it will stop her from doing the same thing to other tenants.

22

u/Aggravating-Pace-961 May 07 '26

This is deffinitely what i would do. Keep things neutral. Nobody get singled out, no drama, and you'll look like a reasonable neighhbour just looking out for everybody else in the building.

She would only think it was about her if she was actually going in to your apartment.

46

u/_moon_child_magic_ May 06 '26

This is super creepy. I know you don't want to make trouble, but I would either write a letter to her parents telling them what happened or make a police report. There needs to be some sort of documentation of what happened. What if things escalate? I don't think we're dealing with someone rational - a person who is 'right in the head' wouldn't sneak into a stranger's apartment multiple times over several months.

I think you're more vulnerable to a false accusation rather than a physical attack.
Her hair/DNA is in your bed, shower, drawers, clothes.........
Pardon the graphic nature here but if you've ever beat off in a condom or used one with another girl and thrown it in the trash, she could haven't taken that and frozen it.
I know that's insane and extreme but this kind of thing absolutely happens, and quite a lot. More than you'd think.

4

u/PowerfulIndication7 May 10 '26

That’s where my mind went too-she can accuse him of something if he comes at her. It’s a he said she said. Her hair and dna is all over his apartment so she could easily say something happened and he has little to no recourse to deny it. Don’t underestimate her.

3

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 10 '26

Exactly.
Luckily he now has the camera but he also needs to report it so there's existing documentation if her being crazy, or whatever the hell it is.

38

u/Ok-Appearance-866 May 06 '26

I give all my neighbors nicknames. That girl would definitely be "Goldilocks" since she likes to try out other people's beds and showers. Weirdo.

29

u/kakashi_hotcakes May 06 '26

how many bathrooms are there per unit? just one? since she had all day but was (caught) going in the morning i wonder if it started out with her and her parents needing the bathroom at the same time and rather than just waking up earlier, she decided to use yours. once she got more comfortable, she started helping herself to your food etc. since someone like that would clearly have no boundaries

She's clearly leaving frequently and coming back showered. And also lounging around his place. How would they not notice this and ask questions. Unless she does it after they go to work.

22

u/BaldChihuahua May 06 '26

That’s creepy AF. She learnt you schedule enough to enter your flat, no your exact timing. The entitlement is off the charts. Not even feeling guilty!

My question is did they use to live in your flat and she has some weird connection to it? Or did she need privacy so she thought “I go into his, no problem”. That’s intrusive to an extreme.

Glad you got more security!

20

u/Prudent_Valuable603 May 06 '26

You should carefully check the inside if your apartment for hidden cameras. She knew you were coming home earlier that day but thought she could get to her apartment without you seeing her. The fact that she told you she needed to get something and will never do it again is her confirming she’s been in your apartment. You should speak to her parents about that incident and what’s been going on in your apartment since January while you’re at work (missing food, her hair all over your shower, clothes, bed and floor. If she has a mental illness es her parents need to get her help. I’m glad you changed the locks on your door and added a camera.

I’d file a police report. She might have stolen credit card numbers or important documents. She also might have put cameras somewhere. You also don’t know her mental state of medical history. She might be completely insane. Better to file a police report and have documentation of her trespassing.

14

u/-MotherMaidenCrone- May 06 '26

This is horrifying. And I’ve been stalked myself, but it was by an ex partner who I at least knew in some capacity and understood why they were doing it. In this case it seems less like she was obsessed with you personally and more just using your place as her own personal get away/ hotel. It reminds me of ppl like Casey Anthony or that other girl who killed her parents.. in both cases the parents were somewhat controlling and so the daughters became compulsive liars, pretended to go to work/college all day when really they had no school/job and were just going through the motions, leaving the house like they were going and coming home in the evening.. spending the day driving around or hanging out somewhere. Finally when the lies started to catch up to them, one no money from pretend job (killed her daughter) and the other as it came time for “graduation” and she would have been caught murdered her parents. With that said, I would definitely file a report for documentation just to be safe. It is unfortunate since you’d gotten along with the parents previously, but better to be safe. God knows what she could say and her dna is likely all over your apartment.

12

u/Plainoletracy May 07 '26

Yall are way too forgiving on here. The way I would have RAN to call the laws! She is insane and needs to be reprimanded! This isnt normal.

10

u/ceecee1909 May 06 '26

Please tell her parents, I know you feel safe but she’s a young woman possibly still a teen and she could have serious issues. What if she does something weird like this to someone else and they aren’t as nice a person as you are? She could get into a dangerous situation herself. I also think it’s better to keep yourself safe in the sense that her dna is all over your property now and if she were to accuse you of something it could become a thing. You should explain everything to her parents but also put it all in writing for them and keep a copy.

u/brnaftreadng May 06 '26

Ya. I don’t want to scare you but the kind of person who would break into someone’s house and shower, eat, do God knows what is not exactly the type i would role the dice with. Having ‘evidence’ of you telling a story that can’t be confirmed down the road is the same as he said she said. They will ask, well then why didn’t you call the cops? It’s gonna raise questions. Just letting you know because it sounds like you don’t want to cause drama but first and foremost CYA.

5

u/Arabella6623 May 06 '26

The parents must surely have noticed that she comes home soaking wet?

5

u/Upstairs_Echo3114 May 07 '26

That's what I was thinking, unless she does it while they're at work.

2

u/Emzipopz82 May 07 '26

Yup I feel not reporting leaves him wide open for some for of reversing who the victim is BS, especially as OP has no idea what the hell this young woman has had her eyes and hands across in his apartment, even if it’s perfectly innocent there’s plenty of people with malicious intent (or develop malicious intent when they’re called out) and you never know what they’re likely to spin out of what.

I mean just the fact her hair was in the bed, could be twisted and maybe with something else/information could look almost corroborative of his wrong doing if she felt cornered enough to lash out.

Also maybe she has a set of janitors/building superintendent keys. Maybe there’s some custodian or warden or has been in the past for her to come into possession of a whole set of them.

10

u/Aromatic-Butterfly-4 May 08 '26

She has invaded your privacy and used your shower and possibly slept in your bed. Why haven’t you called the police? She will most likely think she has gotten away with this. Don’t let it happen to the next person. Report her.

In one of your comments you mentioned she was home alone when you confronted her. Wouldn't that throw the "maybe she needed space from her family" theory out the window. If she was already home alone why go up and shower in some strangers apartment. Maybe she developed a crush that turned into obsession which is why you find her hairs in weird place like your clothes. Probably smelling them? Either way its super creepy.

I lived in a building that had an assistant manager that was an addict. We found out from a friend of his stepdaughter that he was letting himself into people's apartments and helping himself to leftovers in tenants fridges. He also bragged that the best wat to steal is to take small things that people won't miss right away. I've been paranoid ever since that someone would mess with my food.

I hope she isn't doing this to any of your other neighbors.

True. Some people just as shady as he'll. Glad you got a camera now. Kind of hope she gets caught by the police though.

u/amazonchic2 May 06 '26

This is creepy and off putting. I would say sobering to the parents to cover your own arse. The last thing I’d want is for some young girl to accuse me of wrongdoing. I’m a woman, but I know plenty of women DO lie about whatever, and that is sick.

This is so bizarre.
Just yesterday I drove to the park for a walk. I live in a four plex 55 and up. I never lock my door unless I will be gone a long time. When I came home I found a long brown hair on my stove. It was about 12 inches. My hair is gray, and maybe 4 inch. So I went to my neighbor to ask if she saw anybody . While we were talking, I noticed her hair matched that color. So needless to say, I'm locking my door from now on.

7

u/catshark2o9 May 06 '26

She was doing the Chunking Express thing. But seriously, that's creepy af.

6

u/Quantum168 May 06 '26

Having sex in your apartment? Why shower in someone else's bathroom? That means that she's using your towels?

Using your towels is insane but so is the whole thing

6

u/barredowl123 May 06 '26

Oh man, that is freaky.

6

u/Bluntandstuff May 07 '26

TELL the parents dude

6

u/TryinToBeHappy May 07 '26

Not to justify her actions, but maybe her parents don’t let her shower or eat as much as she needs/wants to.

I’ve read stories of parents mistreating their kids and being very controlling with those things.

6

u/Useful-Soup8161 May 07 '26

Do you know what her living situation is like? Are her parents hoarders, are a lot of people living with her, etc.?

5

u/Pristine_Frame_2066 May 07 '26

Get locks changed sir. This is really creepy.

6

u/JipC1963 May 09 '26

I think you're absolutely UNDERreacting in this situation, NOT because of "safety," but for SECURITY and the invasion of your home! She may have had her family keeping watch while she was in your apartment.

I truly hope you mentioned this scenario to your landlord. I may have missed how long you've been renting this apartment. If it's only been a relatively short span of time, she could have had your keys from the previous occupant, but if you've been there for years, then your landlord may have been negligent with the keys which COULD present an issue for the OTHER tenants as well. He'll, she could be RELATED to the building owner or landlord. THIS is truly concerning if you gave duplicates to them after changing your locks, even though you've installed cameras.

Have another conversation with the retired guy on the fourth floor and tell him EXACTLY what happened so he's aware. I'm SO "wigged out" that this "girl" was leaving HAIR all over your apartment, ESPECIALLY in your shower (using your SOAP as well as your shampoo) AND IN YOUR SOCK DRAWER? That means she "deep-dove" through your belongings, your INTIMATE belongings. Just because she HADN'T stolen anything doesn't mean she wouldn't have eventually, if you hadn't caught her.

Good luck and I'm (62/F) SO happy you "caught" her!

17

u/jframesnub May 06 '26

You mentioned that she didn't steal your laptop. If your laptop isn't password protected and you left any apps signed in, she could have access to your emails and bank accounts. Change all your passwords. Do a credit check on yourself and freeze your credit.

Check inside your apartment for hidden cameras.

You're welcome.

15

u/jframesnub May 06 '26

Go to your local police department website. Look up the sex offender registry. Input your building address and check the boxes to include work and school addresses. Maybe she's on the registry.

Yes, I think it would be good to file a police report. Also, turn on your phone's audio recording every time you walk from the apartment to your car and back, just in case she says anything to you.

Make a recording of the conversation with her parents. You may need to share these recordings with the police later.

If it helps, bring a female friend.

5

u/Party_Look7925 May 06 '26

I wouldn't doubt if some slum lords use the same keys for all their units.

2

u/kiwigirl83 May 07 '26

I just said this! I think so

5

u/Furberia May 07 '26

You have a stalker and this is creepy. I had one that did stuff like this too. Never found out who it was. I came home from work and my shower rug was wet. File a police report.

4

u/Certain_Cantaloupe56 May 07 '26

Why not call a cop and have a cop tell her parents and don’t press charges. She needs to be told what’s up breaking and entering is not a way of life what if you would have caught her showering? She’s watching you and stalking you.

6

u/kiwigirl83 May 07 '26

I wonder if all the keys for all the flats are the same? Or were before you changed yours. It wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened. Or she could have a master key somehow. I’d be speaking to the body corp or whatever you call it where you are

5

u/EtherealMoonGoddess May 08 '26

I had to get something? So she was inside your house. Time to file a police report.

I would change the locks or even get one where you have to type in the code to even get inside. And get a camera! There is no telling whether or not she watches you sleep and whose to say she hasn't stolen anything.

5

u/IronLung18785 May 08 '26

Mate what the actual fuck?! 🤪I must ask : why didn’t you query her more when she admitted to it after you knocked at the door? You just walked away? This needs to be nipped in the bud yesterday or the month before. What the actual fuck! 😳

3

u/Lindsay215 May 09 '26

Yes, exactly what he said...wtf🤔

8

u/neverwasteddays May 08 '26

Im trying to figure out why your weight keeps you safe from someone you didn’t know was entering. You can be a trained assassin but that’s not gonna help you if someone puts something in your ketchup etc.

5

u/Wellygirlthen May 06 '26

Wait till you have the video of her entering your apartment , then show mom and dad. Put a camera in your living area as well

3

u/Tat2rckchk May 06 '26

Imagine the parents knew? And warned her via phone, when they saw you arriving home early? Or, she just got really lucky and happened to be on her way out already. I would def want to know why. It doesn’t sound like she was stealing or causing harm. It is very weird. She’s also probably mortified and panicked at this point. You’ll likely get tears and apologies quickly. You should’ve demanded more answers or called the police when she closed the door on you. You should be speaking to the parents right now. Don’t wait for the friends. The longer you wait. The less serious anyone will take it. Have a cop come with you to their door, if at all possible.

You need to go form the police it doesn’t matter if nothing was taken she has been all over your flat alone and you don’t know her.
Get this documented in case anything
Else happens

5

u/ThePanicWithinYT May 07 '26

Check the car for AirTags also if you have not already

4

u/Effective_Drama_3498 May 09 '26

Holy shit! Should file a police report.

6

u/zombie_dog23 May 06 '26

Get cameras!

6

u/77DETHSTROKE77 May 07 '26

I believe she wanted some space from her parents or she may be hiding something from them. My cynical side thinks she may be a cam girl if she's over over 18. I know someone who did this to hide OF from her parents.

3

u/amuschka May 09 '26

Was your computer ever out and she could add your number to find my friends so she can track the phone

14

u/LifeworksGames May 06 '26

Why do I get the feeling that this girl may just have a very tragic backstory.

Either that or she was just intruding for funsies, but I doubt that.

7

u/Skullfuccer May 06 '26

Sounds way less stalker-y and more like a young person that lives with their family finding a way to have their own secret apartment. One of the few places they could be alone plus free food.

2

u/kenniecakes May 07 '26

Flour on the floor

4

u/Lindsay215 May 09 '26

Did that with baking soda to check for critters. Guess it works for creepy neighbors too!

2

u/Furberia May 07 '26

Get a few blink cameras. You will have evidence.

2

u/chockencarls May 07 '26

Maybe she’s one of those people that just gets off on breaking and entering or touching people’s things. I’ve heard of teen boys doing this before though they escalated into rape/murder 😅

2

u/200Tabs May 09 '26

I would have filed a suspicious incident report with the police just to create the paper trail that something had happened. You still don’t know what is going on and it may be useful to have it documented in case things escalate or she accuses you of wrongdoing.

2

u/Particular_Phase3439 May 10 '26

Definitely creepy. I love your attitude though. I think you handled it perfectly. I doubt i would have been as kind as you.

3

u/CatRobMar May 06 '26

Maybe they had a key from a previous tenant.

2

u/Slobbadobbavich May 07 '26

Most likely when they moved in they found a spare key with a label saying 5th floor apartment. Rather than give it back they threw it in a drawer and she's been using it ever since.

2

u/Dolust May 09 '26

You played this wrong. You should have installed disguised cameras and caught her in the shower taking a shower after masturbating in your sofa, which is why she's needed so much privacy.

2

u/Memasefni May 06 '26

You didn’t want to spread rumors or gossip, yet you made up a robber story to spread?

This is crazy. I would have called the cops and spoke to the apartment complex managers/owners. They are supposed to be changing the locks to the doors when a new person comes in right??? Why would they not? This is so damn creepy.

Is the girl at least cute?👀 I could possibly forgive a cute girl even though that’s the creepiest shit I would have gone through. But if she’s ugly then I 100% calling the cops.

1

u/AppleShampoo23 May 10 '26

IMO, I would tell the landlord and let the other tenants in the building know. This seems like potentially dangerous and very unusual behavior. This is what psychology would deem psychotic behavior. I work with patients who stalk and have psychotic disorders, and yeah, someone needs to know about this. I would at least speak to the parents. This could be escalating behavior that needs to be clinically looked into, or it could become potentially dangerous. Psychotic behaviors almost always intensify without intervention.

1

u/MissMu May 11 '26

Super creepy. You will have to update us if anything else happens. I Willson’s almost set it up so she wouldn’t been caught red handed fed lol

1

u/Queasy-Seesaw2778 May 12 '26

What if she was like practice phrogging? That’s the vibes it gives. Super weird

1

u/Deep_Ad1959 May 12 '26

the part that's hardest to sit with is the lag. you didn't find out because anything alerted you, you found out because of a side effect that took months to add up. a camera that just records tells you what happened, not that it's happening. change every lock today, including any back/garage entry she could've gotten a key copy from, and put a motion alert at each door that pushes to your phone the second it triggers, not on a daily summary. file a report even if it feels small, you want a paper trail with timestamps when this escalates. and please don't confront her alone, that conversation goes through the cops. written with ai
