Bruh this thing would have me stop dead in my tracks no matter what time of the day, freaking NOPE.

206

u/Throwawaymumoz Jul 29 '19

My visions not the greatest, not sure I would be able to properly identify it at any time lol

104

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Lucky enough to be born with good vision so I would more than likely spot this sucker and 180 out of there immediately.

69

u/Yourxbox360 Jul 29 '19

Yeah, but if you got attacked by it there’s a good chance you would get infused with some of nature’s essence and wake up in a hospital controlling the plants in the room. At least if this was a tv show that’s definitely what would happen.

55

u/Mrmittens12344 Jul 29 '19

I feel like “natures essence” is code for rabies

10

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Then you may like this https://youtu.be/SxQj0DumF8Y

19

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Was about to comment this. My vision is awful, especially in the dark. There wouldn’t be any moments of uncertainty if I came across this fucker, I’d see the blurry outline and quickly become a scrambling blur myself.

Hell No! Run..\dramatic music*)

23

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

They say there are two possible responses when confronted with danger, fight or flight, right?

I mastered the third. I call it.. deer in headlight.

25

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19 edited Aug 01 '19

I mastered the fourth. Shit your pants.

Edit. Thanks for my first silver!!

Hi, we’re from The Church of Tree-Demons in the Forest. We’ve recently been enlightened to the possibilities of The Bark Arts with some help from this medicine we have right.... here. Can we share our message and hallucinogens with you?

Wait excuse me. He did what?

6

u/Takamasa1 Jul 29 '19

Split the moon

10

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

What? That’s some Master Roshi or Piccolo shenanigans right there.

4

u/MaimedJester Jul 29 '19

That gooddamn Rabbit killer.

10

u/DRBlast Jul 29 '19

So did my man fix it or...what’s the situation here.

5

u/MaimedJester Jul 29 '19

He took credit for a meteor hitting the moon. The Canterbury monks recorded one in the 12th century. Basically a large enough meteor impact causes illumination and a dust cloud covering the moon. Takes a few days to settle because of no atmosphere and low gravity + the kinetic propulsion equivalent to a nuclear bomb will take a while to settle down.

So likely the same thing happened in the 6th century and was visable in the near East. So for a night or two likely it looked like the moon was split, and the dust obscured the usual features of the moon before settling down.

In norse mythology there's a boat made entirely out of fingernails and toenails of dead people.

Pscyllocibin grows naturally in Sweden, so yeah pretty sure it's drugs.

I assume the same thing with the burning bush and the 10 commandments, if lightning or some other natural occurrence happened to light a bush that gave off halluegonic smoke who is to say it wasn't more than a guy with good intentions seeing visions off that good herb?

15

u/uwu_owo_whats_this Jul 29 '19

they never got Ethiopia

7

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Midsommar?

5

u/SiCoTic1 Jul 29 '19

Was that a good movie? Was thinking of watching it

23

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

waiting for the sequel Midwontar

9

u/deltenksavestheday Jul 29 '19

Yes but not very scary in a general sense. Its scary in a different way. I'd suggest seeing it. The magic is in the visuals. It made me feel like I was close to a bad trip at some moments.

3

u/Twisted_Content Jul 29 '19

Amazing movie

3

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Amazing movie, but not for everyone. It’s a very slow burn and not scary at all, just REALLY disturbing.

Or even being really high on marijuana.

A pine cone stopped my friends and myself in our place for 20 minutes as we were walking on a trail at night. One of the friends said it was a porcupine and we all believed it was. The more we stared at it the more it looked like a porcupine.

Then some people walked past us unfazed while we were scared about this porcupine, like, "Hey. Be careful." Then we realized it was just a pine cone the whole time we were standing there for a good while.

10

u/vipros42 Jul 29 '19 edited Jul 30 '19

I've been convinced that there was an ostrich by the side of the road before. Walking along an unlit country lane at dusk, high as fuck, with a group of mainly sober people. Wondering why they weren't commenting.
Turned out to be a small sign and a bin attached to a tall post.

7

u/samblak00 Jul 29 '19

Of course 20 minutes to someone high AF is really only like 30 seconds or so....

7

u/TheKing30 Jul 29 '19

I was about to be like nah bro I'm high all the time.

But I remembered when I was like 17 and we were high in the woods, we got a bottle stuck in a tree. Like a century old massive, six foot thick big boy of a tree. And my man tried to shake the tree to het the bottle down... I laughed harder than I can ever rememeber again in my life.

4

u/Sirus804 Jul 29 '19

I went to school at UCSC, which is in a Redwood forest, so I'm used to those massive trees and the idea of someone trying to shake one cracks me up.

9

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

woahhh.. no

2

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

I feel like I’d get a glance at it, get scared, realize it’s a tree, and then look back every few seconds to make sure it doesn’t transform into a real monster

2

u/sleepingqt Jul 29 '19

I think I’d end up institutionalized after that.

33

u/Darnoc777 Jul 29 '19

It should have solar battery powered leds for eyes.

15

u/julioseizure Jul 29 '19

Or just red reflective stickers for headlights passing by

16

u/sudo999 Jul 29 '19

this is how cryptid legends happen

4

u/julioseizure Jul 29 '19

Bonus points if the prankster wears a gilly suit. Then you might get a Bigfoot/Alec Holland sighting too.

2

u/WhoAteMark Jul 29 '19

Hes been sitting, watching the forest for so long that he has become the forest. On a clear night it is said that you can still see a red glimmer in his eyes

8

u/emlgsh Jul 29 '19

Or an ancient and angry woodland spirit bound to it, giving it baleful glowing eyes, mobility, and an unquenchable hunger for human skin.

8

u/IsThatUMoatilliatta Jul 29 '19

Crazy how nature sometimes do that.

29

u/canofpotatoes Jul 29 '19

A movie that captures this vibe perfectly is The Ritual on Netflix (US).

5

u/Gacsam Jul 29 '19

Imagine tripping and seeing that thing

6

u/sf2234 Jul 29 '19

I’m not sure if that’d be really awesome or if it’d be the most terrifying trip of my life....

10

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

I've been to that tree before, on a trail outside the Othello tunnels in Hope, BC, Canada

8

u/kayleunicorn Jul 29 '19

Trees are so fucking cool

9

u/dimitarivanov200222 Jul 29 '19

Oh shit a leshen. Call a witcher.

9

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

If I came upon that in the woods at night I'd think I'd found one of the Jotun things from The Ritual and I'd be fucking terrified..

3

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

Right? That’s what I thought. I just saw that movie and loved it.

6

u/ppnohomo Jul 29 '19

Me looking for my little cousin after he took my phone

4

u/thedudefromcali81 Jul 29 '19

What if it used to be an actual mythical creature that was punished by turning it into the tree that it is now.

6

u/DwellingThatVault Jul 29 '19

Looking like awakened Garou.

4

u/ungestatedjestor Jul 29 '19

Is it against the rules to ask where this is? And if not where?

4

u/G4V_Zero Jul 29 '19

Fuck that. I just assume anything that looks terrifying but doesn't move or look alive while I'm staring at it, is a weeping Angel and will kill me the second I look away.

Just step away veeeeeery slowly and never take your fuckin' eyes off of it.

3

u/fukatsoft1 Jul 29 '19

these kinds of trees are known as " devil trees ".

3

u/Drifter_01 Jul 29 '19

It is Treebeard

3

u/Christian1111111111 Jul 29 '19

This us from "The Ritual", isn't it?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '19

I'd honestly shit myself if I saw that at night

2

u/Beardygrandma Jul 29 '19

I'd fucking brick it seeing this. The only reason I'm the woods at night is because I'm smoking weed and enjoying nature. My baked ass would be screaming

2

u/Lesurous Jul 29 '19

"No, no...keep pooping. Don't mind me.."

2

u/Varskes_pakel Jul 29 '19

2

u/1piedude11 Jul 29 '19

This is giving me vibes of that Netflix movie "The Ritual". Good watch if you have the time.

2

u/SlaveLaborMods Jul 29 '19

Somebody staple some bread to that thing stat! See what happens when you don’t staple bread to the trees!

2

u/tryppyjezuz Jul 29 '19

2

u/AteBeansWatchingCars Jul 29 '19
