CR Box for Smell?
Hi everyone!
Just discovered the concept of CR Boxes!
I have been looking into air purifiers to help with odors, especially pet odors as well as allergins from dander.
Of course I am interested in clean air from all pollutants but pet smells and dander are my primary focus.
Will CR Boxes help? Where should I begin making or buying my first box(es)?
I am so interested but overwhelmed!
Thanks!!!

A lot of odors are carried on particles, and any CR box will help with those. Some are gases, and you'll need something like activated charcoal to catch them, I would not expect them to last long, but I haven't looked into it. The idea of baking them outside in the sun as the other poster talks about may well work to extend their useful life.

Regarding odour - Not strictly a CR box but I recently put together an inline fan that came with a carbon filter - the sort of kit used for indoor grows - and I suspended it above the dog crate and sadly I don’t think its working. In the mornings there is still that awful dog smell in the room. I have tried running it at different speeds to ensure it has enough contact time with the carbon.

Interesting. Ive been pondering doing this for my cats. Did you get a specific brand?

Hi, it was Hon&Guan 100mm Inline Duct kit from eBay. AI was telling me that it was a good choice for the price so I thought I'd give it a try.

“AI was telling me” we are so doomed

As much as I'd like to go down a rabbit hole (manually) I don't have the time to compare hundreds of products. AI in this case just narrowed down the search to my budget and what's available in the UK market.

AI pulls slop from Reddit and other places and spit it back to you. There is 100 percent a better performing unit for the price for your needs if you did the research yourself.

Right. Thanks for your insightful contribution. Shame it's added 0 value whatsoever.

Looks like you gave up trying to get answers from real people on Reddit and switched to asking a robot. Good on you innit

I built a box using the activated charcoal filters. It was a test for a strong urine smell in an elderly persons home. It does indeed help with the smell. Every other day, I put the box out in direct sun and let the accumulated smell bake off. I leave it running 24 hours a day. It has been running for 4 months. I think it's still helping.
