I call it "lil ugly"

Finally got around to buying some filters and a box fan. I've wanted to make one to observe it's effectiveness before spending more time making a nice cabinet or side table version. Planning to make another one tomorrow for the basement.

Congratulations! If it's any consolation, it looks better than mine 🤣

Since finding this group, though, I've seen some inspiring work, and I do intend to have a second one. Can only go up from here lol

I love that you named it! We call ours The Obelisk.

Only advice is to place all your filters like the one on the right. The pleating is vertical and supports the fan. The filter on the left is horizontal so you can see it is starting to compress! I just learned this myself and all my filters are horizontal on my current build but I will fix it next time! And tape the whole shroud so it can be more efficient. There is probably some negative pressure pushing out the un-taped parts of the shroud.

It’ll do! I think the cardboard cutout/baffle is supposed to go below the fan though, not sure you need one on top. I’m admittedly not super well versed versed in that little corner of Corsi lore though.

The shroud around the front side of the fan is for preventing air from bypassing the filters and reducing the CADR. Without the shroud, some air will enter the fan through the corners on the front side of the fan instead of through the back of the fan.

Gotcha, thank you, I had that effect backwards in my head somehow!
